Hail, Caesar - 2/10

Well that fell completely flat... Worst Coen Brothers movie I've seen. Total waste of time and money.

Trailer had me fooled. It's a shame because if they went a different route it could've been really good with this strong cast.

2/10? Wow.

How it received good reviews, I'll never know. I'm firmly aware of the type of humor they were aiming for. And it did work at times, but it was so ridiculous and all over the place that I had no clue what I was watching. I never once was intrigued.

I love the Coen Brothers... And maybe that's why the critics shied away from giving this poor reviews, but this was far and away their worst work IMO.

It felt a lot more like some Wes Anderson crap to me.

I actually didn't mind it but maybe I should watch it sober. I'm a huge Coen and Anderson fan, so maybe that's why.

Watched Creed tonight. Awesome. Definitely one of my favorites from 2015.

My only problem with that movie was that Creed was a prick. I like Michael B Jordan and he usually delivers but in this film they never allowed him to be a sympathetic character. Charmless.
Stallone takes all that thunder, meanwhile Creed never seems to be more than a punk who seems entitled throughout..

I suppose I can see where you're coming from but that's not how it came off for me. He was definitely a dick at times but I bought the character's actions as genuine given his past and where he is currently in his life. I do agree that Stallone totally stole the thunder but the Creed character wasn't unlikable by any stretch imo.

The beats of the story could all be seen coming a mile away yet it all worked so wonderfully. I think I'd put this right behind Ex Machina as my favorite from last year. There are still a few I need to see though.

I don't think they get a pass just for being the Coen brothers. Ladykillers was not well received at all IIRC.

The trailer for Hail, Caesar did absolutely nothing for me. I'll catch it on video though.

I don't see any actions in that movie on Creed's part that make him a likable or deserving character. He acts entitled in every situation - then he gets what he wants and still acts bitchy about it.
Good movie - but Creed stands out to me as being one of those "dick heros" ala Jax Teller, Ragnar, etc..
Michael B Jordan can be a charmer - and they failed to utilize that here.

Has anyone seen the independent film "Moon"? What are your thoughts?

A favorite. I'm a big Rockwell fan.... and didn't know he's a Titans fan... huh.

His ex flirted with me once. I cared more about it because of her being his ex than I did because she was hot. Ah well.

I thought Reverent was pretty real excellent. I know it was Hollywooded and only bits of facts made it into the movie. But I thought it was excellent anyways

Watched Amy, the Amy Whinehouse documentary. Always thought she had an amazing voice but wouldn't really consider myself a big fan. I really enjoyed this doc though. Very, very well done. Sad watching her completely go off the rails.

Finally saw Cloverfield after all this time. I thought it was pretty solid. Probably would've enjoyed it even more if I had seen it when it originally came out. At this point I am so over the whole found footage thing.

Seen Other Side of the Door lastnight, honestly I enjoyed it a lot. Not really that scary but had a few parts.

The mother tho was annoying

When it first came out, it was amazing. It was a big mystery about what the movie was going to be about and include. The viral marketing was intense. I'm not the biggest on the found footage style but it really worked here.

I'm excited about 10 Cloverfield Lane but I'm not going to give my hopes up. At worst it'll be a solid doomsday scenario movie starring the always great John Goodman. At best, it continues to expand the franchise and their cinematic universe.

Watched Invictus last night, a damn good movie and don't have the 1st f***** clue about Rugby. Freeman and Damon are some of the best actors of of our generation.

I was into Cloverfield all the way up till the camera dude got eaten by the creature and you could hear his bones crunching and chit. At that point I was ready for the movie to be over with.
