I'm thinking we shouldn't just get rid of volek but maybe young as well. Let collins run things for the next 3-4 years. He sure in the hell has a lot of you guys impressed..

Collins did light it up last year. With randy moss to throw to collins put up a passing rating of almost 78!

Don't even say that as a joke :irked:

Why is everyone assuming that volek sucks?

What is the justification for that? Anyone? Kerry collins strolls in and you all act like he is john wayne or something. What are his credentials? He has taken a lot of snaps? He is still the guy with with the sub 80 career passing rating, he is still the guy with no mobility at all. In collins career he averaged 50 yards rushing......per season! What is so great about this guy that makes him so superior to a player that has been with this organization for 7 years?

And facts please not vague theories or generalizations. I don't care what john clayton says either. Show me how with facts that collins is a better qB than billy volek. Show me how collins should start sunday after just 2 weeks with this system when volek has been here the whole time.

Why is collins so great and volek so bad?

Neither guy is that great. The difference is that Collins has tons of experience to draw on and is a good locker room presence. He's proven himself a capable starter in the NFL.

As for Volek, he hasn't proven much of anything and the coaches have obviously given up on him. That's a bad sign...

We have no reason to assume Volek is good... That's a bigger problem to me. What has he ever done? Ever? Have the Titans won any game in which he started? I can't remember any. Collins is a better QB. I can't say that I'm proud of the way Fish and Floyd have handled this situation but that's how it goes.

rcarie...

You have repeated this lame refrain on another thread and it makes no sense. He has been a backup! That is not a crime! Volek did win a key game for us in 2002 and he threw for more yards in his first 10 starts then manning or marino.

I wonder where you were on volek a month ago or 2 months ago. I don't recall a thread started by you expressing your concerns at volek's accomplishments. Only when the great kerry collins is abord does that matter. Why because kerry is so awesome?

In regard to whether someone will trade for Volek.. Does anyone here think someone like say Kitna or Aaron Brooks is that much better than Volek? Those guys are starters. Someone will want Volek. Seems to me there is waiting game to see if a team will step and take him before he's released...
I don't see any reason to just let Volek go unless it's over salary...

isn't today the day that volek's salary becomes set in stone? any word on titan talk radio of a trade or anything today?

My gut also tells me either collins or volek will have to leave the game b/c of a minor injury this sunday...

Hmmm...

Does anyone here think someone like say Kitna or Aaron Brooks is that much better than Volek?
---------------------------------

The raiders sure think that brooks is better than collins.

I think we need 2 vet QBs if we are serious about winning. When we signed collins fisher said he(collins) came to compete for the starting job. Fisher did not say that collins had the job already but some think that.

I honestly can't believe how much I'm agreeing with RT on this.

At the least, there's no reason to get rid of Volek, Collins was mainly brought in because Vince shouldn't start immediately. We now have two QBs who can get us through the season. Volek will probably start this week at the least because Collins hasn't been here long enough. They'll fight for the starting job the rest of the season.

Wow! He had a good game in 2002. Yippy! - Yes, he won one game 4 years ago. That's awsome! He deserves to start. (not) Besides the fact that he can't get rid of the ball and he panics under preasure I think he's great. I've never been a Volek supporter and I'm still not. It makes sense that he's a back-up because he isn't good enough to start for any team let alone ours. It's not a crime that he's a back-up it's just where is belongs and not as a starter.

A month or two ago??? Just because I don't get on here everyday of my life doesn't mean I had any change of heart towards billy. He stunk then and he stinks now. Our team never wins when he plays and that's not just a coincidence.. Furthur more, I'm not by any stretch a Kerry Collins fan I just think he's better than BV. Billy has done absolutely nothing to earn the starting spot other than choke everytime he plays.

I would have love to have Kitna here. He would have been great for Young to mentor under. To bad Kitna was taken by Detroit the second he went up. Palmer played under him and he seems to be doing well. Not so sure about Brooks. The Raiders had to get rid of Collins there fans would have set Mt. Davis a blaze if he came back. He was actually boo'ed off the field to "Collins Sucks" at home in Oakland. That is bad.

Volek will play the first part of the season!
Collins will play the second part of the season!
Vince Young will play the third part of the season!

We finish either 6-10 or 7-9

Busted!!!

From the village voice when collins was a giant..

Now that's a locker room presence! A racist and a drunk who quits on his team! Does he have a problem with filipinos?(amano)
Sign him to a long term deal!

I am calling you out here BUBBA. I read every stinking word of that.

IT WAS LONG!!!

and you know what? I think they should make a movie and call it The Kerry Collins Story. I've never EVER seen anyone spin something no one cares enough to read all out and sum it up into a lie. Your summation is CRAP sir! BULLCRAP!!!

posters... read the article and judge Collins for yourself from that reporters information. I won't take passages in quotes to illustrate my point. My point will be made in your own assesment of the piece.

I agree SEC, but didn't bother to reply because it's not worth trying to reason with Tide and have to deal with his shennanigans, like having words put in your mouth and belittled and such.

But there were many minority players in that article all saying KC is not a racist.
He admits he has a drinking problem but has not had a drink since 1999.
So, calling him a racist and drunk is typical Tide mud and lies.

let's talk about his submission here...

"That stuff about him being a racist was total BS," says Gerry Slemmer, Collins's coach at Wilson High in West Lawn, Pennsylvania. "I know Kerry. He's a good kid. He got along with everyone here. To watch someone you know and like go through what the media did to him then was upsetting."
I lied. I will drag little quotes to kick around... hmmm... who to trust on Collins character? Some guy who has never met him or a guy that coached him in his formative years?

(yes this post is a kind impersonation)
Is that hyperbole? I don't know but it would be IRONIC if it was.

BP I would not try to ride in on a white horse for this guy. Whatever the situation or implication of the way he used the word, he used it in mixed company and did not consider the outcome, obviously.

It reflects poorly on his decision making abilities. That translates directly to his on the field performance.
