The religious stuff is fine, it’s a religious school. The political stuff was inappropriate IMO.
Religion and politics cross paths a lot. It’s not religion interjected into politics but many political items have been defined by religion.
Basically, what he said could have just been perceived as a religious take. But because it could affect some political aspects and/or people generally disagree with his take, it became political.
