Isn't there a 30-40m jump next year in salary cap?

Adore is no question, you pick it up. He's stepped up his game recently. He's always shown flashes, but earlier on wasn't so consistent. And when I say "stepped up", I'm referring to the consistency part.

CD, assuming we have 40m more, is a must as well. I think Tan liked AJ more earlier when he took over because during early season practices, AJ was with the second team if I recall, so they had much more reps (David/Taj/Adam doing more first team).

Then towards the end of the season, when defenses focused more on stopping AJ, his production dipped. Its easier to shine as No2, and with AJ/Corey/Adam, I really think we are set for WR. I'd much rather focus the top of our draft (and next year FA) on CB / DL / OL / OLB-Pass Rush.

The huge jump in cap will now essentially cover the crazy QB market of today (or in our case, Tan's contract), so teams can still blend rookie/vets for the rest of the roster with more flexibility.

And if there is a need to trade AJ and we can get a decent WR in the 2nd to 5th, then many teams deal away for a 4th to 7th round pick that 'option' player.

When we didn't pick up Jack, I recall saying it was a mistake and I still think so. He got overpaid sure, but he's neither as bad as some people here make him out to be, or as good as the market paid him. But I'da liked him with us for another year at the 'option' price, esp with the 40m jump coming in.

There is no scenario where Davis is worth 14m in 2021
Disagree entirely. Titans open up the offense and AJ and Davis combine for 2k and 20+ TDs, that $14 mil is well worth keeping the pair together. Y’all keep forgetting that AJ and Tanny had all training camp to establish chemistry while Davis was training with Mariota.

It’s practically no risk since the 5th year option is only guaranteed for injury.

Here is every WR currently averaging 13-15m/yr:
Jarvis Landry, Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, Allen Robinson, TY Hilton, Alshon Jeffery
I'll say it again. There is no scenario in which Davis is worth 14m in 2021.

Backups rotate in, so AJ was not always with Tanny and Tanny got reps with Davis.

Davis was allegedly hurt yet could still play, that would really explain his down yr

There is, but it isn't super likely. He's have to put up truly elite numbers, like 90+ Rec. and 1400 yards. He's got the talent for it, but in this offense with an already viable weapon in AJ Brown, I doubt it happens. Would be nice to see us have great offenses for back to back years though. Haven't seen that since McNair.

And if all of those guys were cming off contract next year, theyd be commanding a lot more than their current salary

Meh. By seasons end, AJ was drawing the top ceverage, and Davis still didn't produce squat. That was when Tannehill had been the quarterback for quite some time.

I believe the new CBA made it so the contract is fully guaranteed now as soon as you exercise the option, i know they had been talking about that at least... i could be wrong

the new CBA does make the 5th yr option fully guaranteed at the time that it is placed on a player, but that starts for players drafted in 2018 and beyond.....players drafted in 2016,2017 are still only guaranteed for injury or on the 1st day of the new league yr.....Davis’s 5th yr option amount is the cost of the transition tag for 2020 which is actually 15.6 mil.

So we can pick up the option and then cut him if we want without any cap hit....what we would lose is the chance of getting a comp pick for him because he would no longer be a free agent

Ok yea... I was out when I thought it was 14m
