Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Can’t agree more with the statement of “abundance of caution”. Definitely more like over abundance.

this Fs the titans big.
The Pitt game needs to be moved but having a Bye in week 4 is a huge negative move.

since the Jags suck and their season won’t matter, go ahead and canx their week 7 matchup with Pitt and put Tennessee there. Problem solved. Jags either have their bye then or play 15 games or whatever, their season is irrelevant except for 2 weeks, the first loss to Ten and the 2nd loss to Ten.

Yes, COVID-19 is still with us, spreading unchecked through our nation. If you think this isn't the case, then wake up to reality. The NFL can do all of the testing it can do and other mitigation protocols, but all it takes is one infected person close to a team to screw things up. And since the number of games in a season is really low compared to other sports, one team out really upends everything.

Of the four major US professional sports, the most successful at this were the ones who bubbled, specifically the NHL (which just finished their season) and the NBA which is going into the Finals. Baseball had lots of problems early on and still occasionally gets positive tests. For the NFL, it was sadly only a matter of time and that time has struck first here in Nashville. All it takes is one person who is either careless or unlucky in the three mitigation strategies (masking, hand washing, social distancing) to ruin everything.

For me personally, my family is faced with the prospect of deciding whether my daughter will play club volleyball this season and my wife and I have already not been impressed with the COVID-19 mitigation strategies for that sport and the league. I don't want to have to tell my daughter she cannot play her favorite sport, but we have a medically sensitive family member and we cannot bring this disease home. Not to mention you have no idea what it might do to someone who is otherwise healthy.

If the Titans and the league is lucky, the number of cases won't be more than the reported ones and it will be a wakeup call to everyone to be more careful. But sadly, I think this gets worse before it gets better.

I just really don’t see how we can do anything but forfeit this week.

Id a game comes along with playoff implications two months down the line and one team finds themselves in the same situation we are now, it will absolutely be unfair. Have to set the standard now that it’s either a forfeiture or at the very least just a dropped game from both teams perspective.

The NFL can’t find themselves in a position of one team playing less games in a playoff scenario. Sucks it happened to us first, but I just don’t see a real solution as this will happen again.

I think a forfeit is very likely if the NFL cannot reschedule the game for later in this season....if the season is actually still being played.

This isn't MLB, where most teams played a ridiculous amount of doubleheaders after the Marlins had an outbreak of COVID and disrupted other teams schedules, mainly the Phillies.

The NFL schedule has very little room for rearranging.

the only other option i see is allowing a “makeup week” after week 17, and even then I’m not sure it will work.

Lol.... they can move the game to Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday games gives same amount of time in between as a Thursday game.

Also a lot of division teams have the same bye week this year. That’ll make it easier to adjust schedules.

Yea if everyone tests negative, sure. But you’re counting on a lot of ifs.

If the titans can’t practice all week and put a game plan together, the game will be as good as a forfeit anyway, might as well lessen the injuries by not playing it.

NFL not rescheduling it though is costing themselves one of the best regular season games for this year, not just the only battle of undefeated this week.

It actually couldn’t come at a better time. We need to get healthy in some spots.

Players who test positive are out 3 weeks and I thought that the games would be played and backups would have to play for Titans in the brutal 3 week stretch of Steelers, Bills, Texans.

THEREFORE, I said it couldn't come at a worse time.
