It’s unfortunate that several people here think it’s some sort of media driven agenda, and not something that we can compare ourselves to against other parts of the world.
You mean like Sweden, where they never shut down and don’t wear masks and are pretty much over this fiasco. They have less new cases per day than Denmark who did shut down and imposed strict restrictions. Deaths are practically nil.

Let it run its course. Open everything back up. Pretty simple if you ask me.

... Sweden was able to trust its population to social distance and follow other such guidelines without inforcement.

Simply never would've worked here, sadly. Too many "me, me, me's" in certain countries.

THAT is severely overlooked.

They also have over a 6% death rate

Exactly.

"Hey guys, there's a new virus going around that can be pretty bad. Here's a few simple steps that we can take"

Some of our citizens, "lets go to the beach!!!"

As Vince Young would say, "Cant nobody tell me nuffin"

Then you let those people get sick. If someone else is at the beach, but you stay home you won’t be affected by their decision. See how that works?

Then they go to the grocery store to pick up more beer for the beach when you are in there to get food for your family and you get infected, see how that works?

You are also ignoring that the CDC’s data shows that prolonged contact with someone with the virus is where you get in trouble.

The Vikings played football for 3 hours vs the Titans and had no outbreak. But yeah im sure being at the grocery store is a bigger risk than that.

They also have over a 6% death rate
Half of which were in nursing homes, and once again elderly people with pre-existing conditions. Back those out and they have had 2900 deaths in a country with a population of 10.3 million. Minuscule.

The 6% death rate is based on people tested. If you’re only testing sick people, then they also have a 94% survival rate including the 50% that died in nursing homes. 97% overall if you back out the nursing home deaths.

And now they are out of the woods. They did this without wrecking their economy and forcing people who aren’t at risk to shutdown their business and opt out of living for the past 7 months. I’ll take their path over ours any day.

They clearly don't get it

CDC has literally posted data talking about how prolonged contact with someone is how most come in contact with the virus. Again the Vikings just played tackle football for 3 hours against guys who had COVID and no problems for them.

But yeah you being at the grocery store is going to for sure get infected.

Running and hiding?

Its called being cautious. Sorry you guys can't figure out the difference
It’s going to run its course. My argument is, there are always going to be viruses and diseases. This one posses virtually no risk for the masses. So why shut down the economy with no end in site when the very small portion of the population at risk can just take the necessary precautions to themselves.

These shut downs are way more damaging to the masses than this BS virus. But again, I guess you didn’t lose your job or have to ruin your business you’ve spent your life building for no good reason.

Did you look at that video I posted? Does it look like they are socially distancing or wearing mask? No, they were only asked to take precautions for themselves if they thought they were at risk. Other than that, it was business as usual. We should be able to do the same.
