Last year Whisenhunt simplified things and not one of our QB's from that team could win more than one game all year, what kind of stupid ass are you to not be excited we drafted a QB who's won nearly every game he's ever played in his entire life? Theres something called a clutch gene, and clearly Mariota has it.

no there is not a clutch gene, but whatevers

of course everyone is hoping MM does well, but ripping the bugger eater dont make him better

South Jersey fan here, was an Oilers fan from the beginning. When I was a kid the the Oilers were the Cream of the AFL and on TV often. So I guess I was one of those jumping on when they were at the top. Hopefully some of the newbies will stick around and I can see some Columbia Blue Jerseys around here.

There are traits you can see that suggest there is a clutch gene. Mettenberger had an all-star team at LSU and did nothing with them. I know the SEC is tougher than other conferences but come on, Mett is just average, how do some not see that..?

I grew up in Texas, didn't want anything to do with the arrogant Cowboys fan base. Loved the Oilers, even have a tattoo of the Oilers logo from when I was 18. Naturally continued to follow them when they moved to Tennessee. Moved to Colorado about 12 years ago, not many Titans fans here... But I proudly put out my TITANS flag out for all to see every Sunday. Still wear my McNair, Campbell and Ray Childress jerseys.

I guess a person has to ask themselves if they really love football or a trend when they so easily jump from team to team. A lot of folks just want to be where ever popularity and the crowd are.

As for me, I didn't start watching football religiously until 1998 when the announcement was made an NFL was coming to Tennessee. There is a possibility that if the 1999 Titans had not been so good, I might not of fell in love with this team and continued to watch football period.

Started watching football in 1985 at ten years old. Never spent much time with my dad but he did one thing i'm forever thankful for and that was getting me on a football team and into football because before that i had no interest. I rooted for Raiders mainly and Lions when they had Sanders but always wished we had an NFL team in Tennessee. Well in '99 when i found out that we were gonna have a new team with no name and uniforms i gladly made Tennessee Titans my diehard favorites from the first year in '99 until now and beyond. One thing i miss is they have watered the game down some and made it where defenses can't be as rough and hit as hard as they did back in the day.

Central NJ here, I came on board in 2000. I didn't really have a team, my step dad liked the raiders, I tried to bond with him by liking them, but the only time they were on TV was when they played the giants or jets, id be lucky to catch a game or 2 per year. In HS didn't really watch football or care about it, then I joined the Army in 99, first year in didn't even watch sports. Went on a trip to Nashville in 2000 and didn't even realize they had a team. There was a preseason game happening, and like thousands of people were walking around with Titans stuff, I was like holy crap this is cool. I started catching their games, and before long I HAD to watch every game. I got a dog, named him Titan, and it just kept growing year after year. They just, for whatever reason, caught my attention at a time I didn't really have a favorite team, and its stuck.

I was ripped at them picking MM this year. I liked Mettenberger, Im a softy for feel good stories, if he had gone from his injury to 6th round pick, to starter, and did good and became our guy, I would have really enjoyed being there for that. Now we have the #2 pick who, in my opinion isn't an andrew luck, peyton manning type pick, and it really is too similar to VY/Locker in my mind, I was looking for a different story to follow. I digress, after a few weeks of complaining about it and pouting, I'm getting on with my life, hopefully the kid becomes a great QB and I can laugh about how I didn't like him. Im in it for the long haul, it is just painful living amongst Giants and Steelers fans and getting destroyed year after year. I WANT TO HAVE MY MOMENT DAMMIT.

If TN is as injured as they were last year, play as poorly on D as they did last year and have only one pass catcher ballin' (a TE to boot) - it will be a long season for a rookie QB no matter what radioactive fairy dust the fans have showered over him.

What kind of stupid ass doesn't realize the NFL isn't college? You want some other winning QB names? Leinart? Moore? Tebow? Wuerffel?

How did their NFL career go??

Yes, Mariota is right up there, but its not hard to understand why some people would be less optimistic.

How about the flip end, lets look at some good QB's.

Manning - 77%
Brees - 65%
Rivers - 71%
Brady - 50%
Ryan - 70%

I can go on, but the point has been made. The best I can be right now, is hopeful that Mariota works out.

The Titans are going to get an influx of Oregon grads/fans, like me. There is an organizational philosophy in Eugene that makes you a Duck for life, due to the consistency of the coaching staff over the years.

I dont know whether to say welcome, or Im sorry!!

There are always contrarians, but I read stuff about Mettenberg being the next Tom Brady, and I just don't get it. Is there really a QB controversy, and the coaches decided to screw over ZM? I just don't see that as factual, and the reports from OTAs are that the team is rallying around Mariota. I wonder if that has anything to do with ZM mouthing off all summer. It's what got him kicked out of UGA, so why would he change?

There's no controversy. Whiz named him the starter after he was drafted.

lots of stat analaysis in BB, different sport but still professional athletes, prove that 'clutch' dont exist. One of the reason MLB dropped game winning RBI as a stat.

players do get hot though no denying that
