Oh, in Simmon's case: "an effort to break up a domestic fight between his sister and another adult woman," and while it looked bad he was obviously not putting all he had into those punches. The DA saw how hideous this was he was fined $175 for a plea of simple assault.

Point being should we be hammering a podium to ruin a kid's life over a $175 charge? Oh, but it was a woman. Yea, but that doesn't make Weaver or Simmons woman beaters. Again, examine the circumstances, review what really happened and be realistic in how it should be handled. Nobody condones hitting a woman. But we shouldn't freak out if it happens.

Of course, the police report does NOT state he hit a woman. It says, he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her down/away. Not that that absolves him, but for the sake of accuracy we should stop saying he hit her.
Cue the morons reading the first sentence and hitting reply that I am justifying his actions...

Im only laughing because the title of this thread was incorrectly worded for like a week. Same concept.

They even posted the article that clearly said he wasn’t arrested but yet posted the title that he was arrested lol.

Amazing were our society has come. Woman has NO indication of being hit in the head meaning either she wasn't or the "punch" wasn't much of one. Either way you go from there and get the facts. But no, we need to dissect what the kid said or thought.

Did he really say there are times when a woman deserves to be hit? Well the answer to that for any person with a brain is YES. There are circumstances when it might be permissible. Obviously that doesn't make someone ineligible to make a living in the NFL. Have any of you seen how woman act sometimes?

The comment earlier about how woman want to be treated equally is spot on. Join the military, Act like a man. Well, get equal treatment then. Point is it is circumstantial (was she trying to claw his eyes out) and it does matter if it was a push or a Frazier left hook.

I guess we need to kick this guy off the team (looks way worse than what Weaver was involved in):

I think this stems from the current instant gratification society.
Investigations take time and all types of avenues to speculate and report/pass along incomplete stories which, when written moderately well to meet current journalistic standards, will be click bait which exacerbates the public opinion issues.

unfortunately, this won’t change any time soon and really poses a problem when actual investigation and court room proceedings go against the pre-determined public opinion, bad things can result.

Obviously applicable to more than just this weaver case.

I hate to be -that guy-, but I haven’t followed this story as much as I should have. Is it as bad as first reported? Does it seem like he’ll be suspended/cut for those actions?

Good point. But even in court we see injustice now with this society. Kinda like a guy killing himself with his actions and drug use but now a policeman is paying a price. Even when there is some guilt the punishment should consider all the circumstances.

Agreed. Somewhere self accountability is feeling left out when a second wrong is added.
