Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

The Falcons are trading Julio simply due to cap space. They're not going to trade for another player they will end up having to pay more money to. If the Titans agreed to pay Julio's $15 million salary, and the Falcons had to pay Rashaan's almost $4 million, that only clears $11 million for them. That's taking them backwards cap wise.

The Falcons don't need all of Julio's cap moved however to be in a comfortable position cap wise. With taking on Evan's salary they would have around ~10 million in cap space which is more than enough to operate especially considering they can then lower Jarrett cap hit since they are now clear of Jones' cap hit in 2022.

Keep in mind the Falcons are still a contending team with a closing window as Matt Ryan is likely winding down. By getting Evens they can upgrade a hole in their new 34 defense with a player the knows Pees defense.

Inside linebacker is arguably the Falcons deepest/best position. Deion Jones is elite. Foye Oluokun had a breakout year last year and Mychal Walker had a really good rookie year. They didn't even sniff ILB in free agency (granted they didn't have any money) or the draft.

Any1 else feeling like atlanta are playing their hand like Julio of the past than the present. Granted he'll be a wr2 on most teams and and 1 on some but with his massive cap hit they're acting like the guy is in his prime. Teams are gonna get fed up of the chase and just reduce the offer as atlanta needs to reduce cap space than most teams needing an aging wr

My understanding is that they can't even get their draft picks under the cap. This whole playing hard ball by them is kind of illogical. Take the best offer and move on.

Best top 3 weapons in the league if we got Julio?

1 AJB, Julio, Henry
2 amari, lamb, zeke
3 Jefferson, thielen, dalvin
4 tyreek, kelce, Ceh
5 DK, Lockett, Carson
6 Evans, Godwin, 4net

11 million is less than 15 million.

Sure, so they would love to clear 15 mill but if they only way they can clear any space via trade is to take a player that makes four, saving 11 mill is still moving forward for them. Better than saving 0 and not making the trade.

Clearly they can sign the rookie class with 11 mil. Not sure why anyone is arguing this point with you.

The Falcons are NOT still a contending team. They are a team headed to a rebuild. They are 18-30 in their last 3 seasons and are coming off a 4-12 year. That doesn’t look like contending to me, That looks like that window is shut.

I agree, which makes taking Pitts over Fields a terrible move.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Julio Jones wants to play for a "big-armed quarterback who can deliver the deep ball."

Per Fowler, Jones wants to "outrun DBs and get underneath the ball." That would certainly be a feather in the Seahawks' cap. Less so for Tennessee. No one could grant that wish easier than Kansas City, but the Chiefs' complicated cap situation makes it a stretch. Julio certainly still has the physical ability to blow by most corners on the outside. It is a matter of when, not if, Jones is dealt this summer.

So Fowler saying Tanne can't throw a deep ball?

Tannehill was 6th in yards per attempt last year.
Russ was 14th. And they were virtually tied at 10th for air yards per attempt.
Shut it, Fowler. Or try harder next time

According to Pro Football Focus, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and Tennessee Titans signal-caller Ryan Tannehill are among the best deep passers in the NFL

Julio Jones reportedly wants to play with 'big-armed QB that can deliver the deep ball' — Yardbarker

No1 else realised yet that tanniehill is getting no love cause he played with the donkey whisperer Adam gase. Even Colin cowherd has said he's underestimated ryan looking at his stats. That's sayin something

Legitimately, every single analyst across every outlet is literally just saying everything they think, and hoping that something sticks....

I feel sorry for Arthur Smith. If the falcons are adamant Julio is worth a 1st can you imagine what their expectations are for the season.
