I’m more in the line of thinking, expectations grew and they didn’t drop off coming in to this season (although they’re currently dropping).
So despite a “disappointment” losing in the WC and the D sucking massive balls, the expectations me didn’t drop off.
It was just 2 years ago we had a two score lead at the half in a Championship game… Then burnt toast let us down. This team is better, but not playing like it. I just don’t get it sometimes.

A few years ago when they had an elite defense and I think they made it to the AFC title game right? Didn’t the franchise go downhill immediately the next season? Lol

No one the bought they would be contenders that year and they lived up to expectations immediately following.
Just because hindsight shows they were in the AFCCG and had a really good D that year does t mean anyone actually expected it before the year. I’m sure we could dig up an old 2018 preseason thread to talk about our “offseason champs” for the 2-3rd year in a row and how no one really thought anything of it.
Edit: sorry, 2017 was their good year.

even in week 17, our fans thought we would win AND Jax would still be the best matchup in the post season.
my only point of posting this was to show that no one had SB expectations for Jax even throughout their flair up of a season.
