So, while I am sure everyone is ready to move on from Tannehill, this will be another take, based on the idea that we cannot "fix" the tannehill situation, regardless of what we WANT to do, in this off-season.

The point is, for better or worse, he is still going to be our best option.

If we are honest, the Titans had more issues on offense than JUST TANNY and Todd Downing.

Last year, the titans used all of the available resources to revamp the defense and it worked amazingly. However in doing that they neglected the offense.

Tannehill did not have the same weapons he had last year or the year before.
The point is is that the Titans need better receivers and tight ends, and probably need to think about replacing Lewan.

The league caught up to what the Titans were doing, so the titans really need a burner at wide receiver and a big pass-catching tight-end and bring back the defense, as much as possible and Tannehill is going to have to come in way more focused.

But letting Tannehill go won't solve our situation, it will only make you feel better.

Not in the playoff game. It was literally just downing and THill.

They also didn’t neglect the offense. Of note, we don’t have a 2nd round pick (Julio Jones). I will agree it was half-a$$ed attempt at RT and TE. Also spent draft capital on Radunz.

So overall, I guess I disagree with this post. He had “better” weapons by adding Jones (refer back to all preseason threads on the fan base thoughts).

I will agree, Titans need some changes upfront and a TE. I also agree we’re stuck with THill and it appears Downing.
Let’s see what happens.

TE, OL (RT) and a speed WR need to be addressed... Tannehill needs to get his head out of his ass and live up to that contract
Lewan is coming back from ACL...this year he needs to improve or yes bye bye

Going into the season the offense was clearly addressed. Tanny had AJB, Julio,Henry and what we thought was an up and coming TE in Firk. What more did he need on offense to start a season? So it's not like we didn't address the offense.

But since we're stuck with Zach Mettenbe, oops I mean Ryan Tannehill, we most definitely have to address the OL when it comes to pass protection and that starts by getting rid of Keith Carter. We need to find a way to sign Glowinski from the Colts at all costs.

If I could address the offense in 3 moves it would be:

1. Sign Mark Glowinski from the Colts
2. Draft Jalen Wydermyer or trade down and draft Trey Mcbride
3. Draft Alec Pierce from Cinncinnati in the 3rd round (he's going to be good)

You do those things and I think we'll be one of the top teams in the AFC next season.

Pierce sounds intriguing.. would certainly catch all passes thrown his way it seems...projected as a 4th but could go in the 2nd if someone falls in love with his athleticism

Who is Alec Pierce? The Cincinnati WR is a freak of nature and dominant at the catch point

Tannehill needs to restructure... then he won't be a ridiculously overpaid backup QB.
I think that keeps him here longer for certain.

I Know everyone wants to move on or find alternatives but he’s going to be the guy next year and coming to grips with that and letting it happen will financially be more reasonable.

Situation wise, Tannehill had the best situation … 1 seed so all home games, a week of rest, defense balled out with 9 sacks and bengals only scored 1 TD. Running game ran all over bengals, AJ had a game! Downing called bad plays, I do wonder if Thill thought to audible? Especially on the 3rd and 4th down critical late on the game. To get that performance on Defense is something not to waste and he threw it away and sh** the bed. I’d give him a pass if this was his first time but 2 years in a row to end on an interception is ridiculous. Playoffs are to big for him.

It does, but I'm thinking along the lines of his salary hit next year.

It's way too big. If he restructured, we could save over time.

Tannehill will be here, anyway - we eat his contract no matter what.

AND no other team will want to take on that salary in a trade.

We are screwed no matter what. A restructure makes more sense to me - whether he starts or not.

I'm starting to see McBride mocked in the 1st more and more.

I know what your saying and honestly, whatever happens, I’m pretty much good with it. The bright side of riding him out this season with no restructure is next season, all the big penalties are dramatically reduced.

Not an apologist, but he was sacked all over the place this year and still took the team to 12-5 against great teams without his main weapon (DH). Yes, I'm super frustrated at his poor performance in the post season this year, but with a new OC and all his main weapons injured at one point or another the dude deserves some credit. This team went 12-5 while never looking as solid as it did the previous two years. Its not like he just shit the bed- the offense never looked in sync this year. They need to figure that out.

That said, this team hasn't sniffed 12-5 since the last time they were a one seed in 2008. We've been through how many high draft picks trying to get where we are? Get the dude a shrink and replace the posers (perhaps Lewan) on the O line and see what you got. Get a burner receiver and a stud tight end like KC has and then see what you got.

Also, figure out how to get a worthy QB2 with high upside to put pressure on RT. This team is poised to be where KC was when it let go of Alex Smith, its just missing the Mahomes- unfortunately they don't grow on trees, especially when drafting at 25 or 26. Until then, he is better than all of the high drafts Tennessee has wasted on QBs over the last 16 years.

KC had the 27th pick in the draft the year they drafted Mahomes. Of course they traded up to get him but it’s definitely possible to find the guy at the spot we are in.

11-5 just last year. But point taken.

Then they should do it, and let him sit until he has the offense down. Let that put pressure on RT to get his yips figured out. I'd love to have a QB controversy at the end of next season because we have stud in the waiting while the other guy is flying high.

Id be all for it if they felt there was a guy worthy of doing so. But with the Julio trade and no 2nd rounder I am highly skeptical we move up in the first round at all. Let alone for a QB.

By the way, I haven’t checked out all of the QB’s yet but Carson Strong is the guy I like most as of now.
