You are reading things into his statements that aren’t true. You don’t have context. In your mind, Woodyard has a beef with Vrable and he went on to a radio show to spread lies because his feelings are hurt. That’s not what happened. Either listen to the interview, or quit commenting on something you know nothing about. Or, keep commenting... it’s kind of funny.

Read this carefully as I have said it many times and will only say it once more..., I was commenting on the ORIGINAL POSTERS take on what Woodyard allegedly said. I never have stated he said anything. The OP a did. I commented on that.

For one, he clearly has an axe to grind. Secondly, he doesn't know that the play calling was changed in any specific manner by Vrabel. That's his speculation. He only said that Pees called the game differently. But that could simply be because Mahomes burned us for 433 yards passing the last time we played him.
Did you listen to it? Because he did not say that.

Then freaking post the interview.... obviously some of us didn’t hear it.
Why are you jumping the original posters ass about what he posted?
In order to listen to it, you’ll have to download the podcast. That’s probably too much to ask, though. Keep firing away!

Vrabel came out and put most of the blame on the players and Vrabel rewarded the person who apparently ran the defense last year with the defensive coordinator title (Bowen).

Obviously, the Titans coaching staff (and Robinson) believe that the defense's lackluster performance ultimately fell mostly on the players, not the coaching staff. I do not necessarily agree, but most of the offseason moves made by Robinson support the organizations' belief that the players were mostly at fault.

The question isn't whether Vrabel has an ego, the question should be whether Vrabel's ego hurts the team. Vrabel kept Bowen as DC and I would imagine he has some input as to what players on defense he wanted to upgrade. If the defense fails again, similar to this past season, the focus would most likely shift to him and Bowen to explain why the defense continues to struggle despite Vrabel/Bowen's scheme being retained and supposedly better players put in to execute the scheme. It's not like Vrabel can keep pointing to player execution as the primary factor in the defense struggling.

Time will tell, but I do think we have seen Vrabel's stubbornness hinder the team at times.

Answer this... is the title of this thread correct? Is what the original poster said Woodyard said correct? Just answer those questions please.

I’m curious.. I must have missed the press conference when Vrabel blamed the players.

So if the Titans defense is much better this season you will admit you are wrong about Vrabel and Bowen. That it was the players?

Title is a stretch, he never said that. Most of the OP is correct (I’ll assume “same game” was meant to be “game”).

Sure. This year. I don’t understand why you are dying on this hill. It’s pretty obvious that Vrable, and I guess Bowen, did a poor job last year with the same group of players from 2019. You really believe that every defensive player not named Malcom Butler just decided to suck last year?

I think Butler sucked. I think Vrabel sucked. I think Bowen sucked. I think they all sucked on 3rd down. Because we had NO PASS RUSH. I dying on the hill that 2019 wasn’t much better. They were better on 3rd down. That’s it.

The fact that Bowen was hired as full time DC and the secondary was gutted, I'd say the players are getting the blame...Clowney and Beasley signings didn't help either
