This dude is an animal. I can’t wait to see him matched up with Kelce in the slot and grab the tight end by his legs and flip him over into a pile driver.
You'd think we would have learned by now to not draft Washington players after bishop sankey and jake locker! This guy can't play corner in this league. Too slow and not agile enough for it. He might make a good safety though if he can put on some muscle.

Ya know... there's been some mega stupid threads and posts on this site. You though have set the bar extremely high(low?) In that regard.

Lack of speed is a liability as a CB. The defense has to be coached in such a way to try and hide/protect that liability because the offense is going to try and attack the weakness….when we had Logan Ryan at NB the Chiefs pit Hill in the slot and Colts put Hilton in the slot and attacked him with crossing routes because they knew we were going to be in man coverage in the red zone. Easy TDs because Ryan couldn’t run with them.

His physical traits are the main reason he fell to the 3rd rnd….if he had run sub 4.4 he goes much earlier.

From a scheme standpoint I think we will see a bunch of combo coverage…with the outside CBs playing press man and then lbers, nb, safety in zone concepts

So he’s got about the same 40 time as the guy who just led the NFL in interceptions?

Just pointing out how insignificant 40 times can be. Several great corners had shit 40 times. Just like Farley, it’s on him. He has talent. He just has to figure out what to do with it.

Good points. His speed is not exceptional and could be an issue. But plenty of corners have had success at similar speed. It depends on him and whether he can be smart player/good tactician.

Molden is the same speed as Logan Ryan and Ryan played a significant amount on the outside as well as NB. Now I believe Molden is going to strictly be a slot guy barring a rash of injuries in a game. Then he becomes a cover 2 CB if that is the emergency alignment.

For inside guys, as with Ss and LBs it is as much about instincts and angles as it is about raw speed (Molden is super smart and instinctive).

Now, for those worried about keeping up with Hill who da ya think we should have drafted? There might not be a CB or NB in the world fast enough to stay with that guy. Blame the scheme, not the player.

Agree with your points....when we had Ryan our scheme put him in some no win situations...hopefully we have learned our lesson.

I saw Ryan really put out of position after AJ25 and Butler got injured, not so much before. I don’t know what lesson can be learned from that outside don’t get injured.

Considering the fact that you have a world class sprinter against a CB that isn't real fast to begin with you might incorporate some S help. Almost anything is better than what we ended up doing. We would have been no worse putting a LB on him and better off putting a LB on him with a single high S helping out. Basically the S sits in the middle and identifies the crossing route and hopefully already being in the middle of the field can get in decent position.

Wouldn’t the D keep Molden off the world class sprinter?
I get it slot cover guy but typically the fastest WR is outside and on the occasion he is inside, why couldn’t molden slide outside and the fasted DB cover the faster WR? Of course this is in Man coverage.

Sure, depends on the defensive call but certainly Farley or Jenkins could man up instead of Molden. Maybe Fulton as well. Still, we are talking about the fastest guy in the NFL so putting a guy who only gets beat by one or two steps instead of 10 yards is still getting beat. IMO keep Farley and Jenkins outside and double the inside. That forces the QB to either throw into double coverage or pick someone else.

You have to have guys in your front 7 to contest those crossing routes and slants or use your safeties for it. It can’t be just corners on an island to shut those routes down. You want to slow Tyreek Hill down, you hit him on those crossers. Remember Al Afalava? It was really the only thing he was good at. Need a guy like that now and then.
