Very Bad Things
I watched it last night on Netflix. I like Jon Favreau, but this was a terrible, terrible movie.
There's definitely worse scenes than that from what I hear.
Very Bad Things is a very, very, VERY black comedy. I enjoy the hell out of it and even think it's better than The Hangover.

I get that part of it... If just wasn't my type of humor at all.
I rented Real Steal last night, and gotta say, much better than what I was anticipating. Yes it's a mix between IRobot and The Karate Kid, but it was a decent movie for a $1.

You'd have to pay me to watch that crap.
Shame
Good characters study. Fassbender hangs dong. T&A. Intensity. Mediocre film. 7/10
Take Shelter
Another good character study. Michael Shannon gives a fantastic performance (performance of the year, IMO). Ambiguous ending. Pitch perfect pacing, mood and atmosphere. 8/10

50/50
The last 30 or so minutes of that destroyed me.
and I'm ok admitting it.
Yeah, 50/50 was really, really good. SO much better than I expected. Easily one of my top 5 favorites from 2011.
Attack the Block- LOVED it. Wow. Just a fun ride from beginning to end.
Take Shelter was excellent but would have been even better if it ended about 10 mins sooner. 8/10

Everybody but me seemed to love Attack The Block. I thought the aliens looked cool, but I just couldn't get into the movie. I blame the brits.

If you were a game at the casino, you would have the best odds! I really enjoyed 50/50. It is a touching story, and the therapist chick did a good job.
Also, It's Kind of a Funny Story was really good. I haven't cried during a movie since I saw Old Yeller(sc?) as a kid. But Zack Gilifindinosaurwaffleous played a remarkable character, imo. For a guy known strictly for comedy, the dude can act. I tear'd up because of his character. Great movie.
I had forgotten about Funny Story.. yeah.. that one was rough too
Trailer doesn't do the film justice. The Dead was actually quite good providing an ongoing sense of dread. A modern zombie film that didn't feel like a video game, which is rare these days..

Safe House - 7/10
Not sure if I can take Ryan Reynolds seriously, but I thought he did a good job overall. This was just another typical Denzel movie. I called the "twist" (or whatever you want to call it) from the very beginning. There were some decent action scenes and overall I enjoyed it. Nothing you haven't seen before though.
Apparently Coach Munchak and his hott daughter came to see Safe House last week according to a friend who works at the theater.

Just watched The Thing 6/10
Here is the thing with me and horror movies. I may jump at random pop ups, but nothing freaks me out more than movies that could happen to me, and it not be a stretch of the imagination. Movies like, The Strangers, Vacancy....things like that. The original The Thing, I enjoyed, thought it was amazing.
This one IMO falls short, acting was decent, but the CGI just falls short in some scenes. I think CGI is really making most movies worse compared to animatronics, puppets, and make up.
Good ghost/demon movies creep me out as well.

Is Strangers the one with the sacks on their head with the chick from Lord of the Rings (I never remember her name)?
