Just watched Creed----not as good as the first 2, and a bit of a snooze for me as excited for a good film as I was. I enjoyed Heart of the Sea, for the historical nature of it, and found Black Mass to be a sedative. Bridge of Spies was a breath of fresh air, and also Martian. Steve Jobs had me wanting to do lines....

Also I watched "Soaked In Bleach"...the doco from Courtney Love's PI who was hired to find a missing Kurt Cobain and wound up investigating her as a murder suspect instead. It was very interesting...but what was more interesting is that my wife came in while I was watching and then started talking Cobain's daughter Fraces Bean and about how weird Courtney and her hired nanny were and how suspicious she was when they came to pick Frances up every day. I wss all like "..wait, WHAT??...you were in charge of their kid too when Kurt was found?!..." and yes, she was...she had both Wolfgang Van Halen and Frances Bean as her preschool students. I wonder who else was there, but don't wanna ask.
A lot of those IMDB ratings were put in before people even saw the movie. The fatal flaw in IMDB's rankings.
You can't take IMDB rankings seriously. The top reviews are from people who haven't even seen the movie yet. 11k reviews is also a bit much considering there have been limited showings to non-media members.
Comic book movie reviews are kind of hard to figure out. Critics compared to the average attendant and comic fans think differently when the movie starts. Some critics even have a vendetta against the genre, which isn't hard to find when looking at some of the reviews posted. That being said, even some sites and podcasts that I enjoy aren't so high on it. I was hoping for more than, "a bit better than Man of Steel". Still seeing it this weekend but my expectations are more in check now.
The first round of reviews on RT etc prior to viewings is always filled with agenda reviews. People either bashing by default or people associated with a film trying to get some hype.. I don't think a Batman movie needs hype so I'd suspect it will be loaded with the former..
Finally saw Hateful Eight...
Big beautiful film with loads of fun stuff - that still falls flat on its face Tarantino-style when it comes to the pay off..
I think when Quentin listens to classical music he must constantly hit the next button before the tune ever reaches the crescendo..
