Wish there were more QBs graded to the first round... always great to have a lot of teams waste their picks on QBs so we have a better selection of good players at other positions.

Might also be nice to have one fall to us for the future. Not sure we want to roll with Woodside in a few years. With all our depth at other positions, I can see them taking a stab at a Jimmy G type early in the draft. We can get good talent later for the positions we need. Except maybe OLB.

I like Bailey Zappe in the mid rounds. I know he ran a gimmick offense, but he throws a great deep ball and is athletic.

Never too early to start looking ahead. So let's get the discussion started.

Looking at some of the early names on people's big boards, it feels like a fairly mediocre class compared to more recent seasons. Maybe that's because COVID robbed us from seeing as much football as we normally would, but I can't find a single returning prospect other other than Kayvon Thibodeaux that I think is an absolute lock to go in the top 5. Maybe Stingley if he gets back to the level he played at in 2019. His 2020, while good, was nothing special, and not really deserving of top 5.

Anyways, hopefully we're picking at No. 32, but for fun let's assume we're in the 28-32 range. Things will certainly change, but at this point, it seems like LB, G/C, WR, and TE will be our biggest needs.

Some guys I will follow this year include:

Ventrell Miller LB, UF
Devin Lloyd LB, Utah
Jalen Wydermyer TE, TAM
Justyn Ross WR, Clemson
Cade Mays G/T, Tennessee
Charlie Kolar TE, Iowa
Chris Olave WR, OSU
George Pickens WR, UGA
Garrett WIlson WR, OSU
John Metchie WR, Bama
Tyler Linderbaum G/C, Iowa

Especially G

Honestly Williams maybe sitting at the top of my wishlist right now. The fact that we'll have Brown/Jones means we'd be able to go the Jeffery Simmons route in his recovery and be able to expect him back by the post season in 2023.

Williams does seem like a JRob pick. Elite talent. Only issue is not having a 2nd round pick. Ideally you would like to get immediate contributors from your top 2 picks.

1) At least right now, he isn't there for us on mocks.

2) Arkansas used him the way that we use AJ. He's listed 6'3", 225, but he seems really thick for that weight, so he may be a bit shorter than that. He doesn't quite look as explosive as AJ or Deebo Samuel. He kind of makes me think of Chris Godwin. Godwin does a lot of the same things as AJ and Deebo, but doesn't look quite as explosive.

...but yeah, he's great and would be a perfect fit.

My favorite receiver in the draft is Jahan Dotson, but we aren't a team that seems to value or utilize 5'10", 180 lb receivers at a 1st round level. No point in drafting a guy that you'll use like Chester Rodgers or Cam Batson. You can find those guys off the street.

I like this guy also. Seems to be a very, very smart player. Given time to learn the offense he could be a more than adequate QB. Since we are locked in with Tannehill (and I like Tannehill), it gives Zappe time to learn Vrabel's style of play and be ready when Tannehill is no longer our QB.

How much time does a guy need to learn how to hand it to Derrick Henry?

I’m fine with BPA with our 1st round pick. But if we don’t go receiver 1st than there are still some guys I’d be excited about who could still be there in the 3rd. David Bell, Pickens, Wan-dale, Jalen Tolbert. Are just a few guys I really like in this draft.
