Fully agree crap game by Smith but he's been pretty effective prior.

That said, if he's enticed enough to go to Jax that he can't prepare for his current team's chances at a SB ring, then good riddance to him and only soon enough will he realize how much more valuable it would have been to prepare on a winning team than to prepare for the dumpster fire that is Jax. He deserves nothing but a Jax team and their level of success.

You look at their weaknesses and propose solutions. That means a holistic view of the Jags and how and with whom he would fix it. He will most likely put together a lengthy and detailed proposal.
Should have had a ppt with 2 slides.
the first is a dumpster with a fire inside stating - Jax, you are here
the second is himself with a fire extinguisher - Jax, I'm here to help.

interview over, hired on the spot.

He gonna flame out hard

for all those complaining, how many days should he wait until it's "okay"? the longer he waits the less chance he has of landing one of these things.

it's different if he goes straight to the airport from the stadium or something but this was just some zoom call.

ppl all up in their feelings in here

At least until our playoff game is done
Agree with it or not, the complaining comes from the feeling Art had checked out and wasn't focused vs the Ravens

Here's the thing... a given week's game plan is installed by Wednesday. The rest of the week is walkthroughs, adjustments, etc. It's not like Smith is creating the game plan on Saturday afternoon for Sunday's game.

Meaning, he has time to think about interview questions he'd get on a Zoom meeting if he wanted to but he's faced the Jags twice and knows them. If he's a sharp guy, which I think he is, I don't see this being difficult for him.

The only concern would be if he allowed it to get in his head during the game itself and I don't believe that happened. I believe much of what led to what many here are calling unimaginative play-calling was dictated by the Ravens DL who blew up the Titans OL and pressured Tanny throughout the game.

What concerns me more is if Smith was in the right frame-of-mind to do a Zoom meeting just hours after losing a playoff game. I'd hope he'd be pissed thinking about what he could have done better to win the game. Maybe he can compartmentalize and put it behind him which is why I'm amazed coaches can talk to the media 20 minutes after a game and, usually, not lash out at reporters who second guess them.

Its not just the Jags though. That was the one that happens right after the game. He has 6 interviews this week lol. I don’t think it’s ridiculous to think it was a distraction. It would be hard for it not to be a distraction. Every team in the NFL with a job opening wants to interview you. Kind of a big deal.

I mean think about preparing for 6 life changing job interviews in one week...

And just because a game plan is installed by Wednesday doesn’t mean a coach can coast the rest of the week. You hear stories about teams adding plays in the hotel lobby the night before games.

Yes. Coordinators adjust but it's usually tweaking and not wholesale changes.

I clearly understand you feel that the Titans offense would have been more "effective" if Smith didn't have any job interviews. But it's total speculation. Neither of us can know what was going on in his head.

Well that’s why I use the example of him interviewing right after the loss to prove my point. Seems pretty f’d up of him to do that. Like the body isn’t even cold yet and he’s going out on dates already. Geez. At least wait until Monday morning.

I'd been more likely to drink a few bourbons and take the loss out on the Jags GM during the interview.

"Yeah I'm disappointed we lost today. Much like you felt when we trucked your asses twice this season. What would I do to fix your team? Blow up that shyt hole you call a stadium and move to London!"

I really would like to see a London team..

I have heard rumors the NBA may expand to get back some of the money they are losing...

No exact answer, but whatever it takes to still effectively do his current job. So, whatever his process was, as shown by the disgusting lack of effort against the Ravens, more time should have been dedicated to his current job.

Hard pass on a London team. Nothing good would come of that and I can only imagine how poorly this season would have went for that team and all 16 opponents.
