Dajuan Jones is the one that I hope signs with someone....his offer would certainly qualify in the comp formula I would think......I guess Raymond and Miltons deals are too small to qualify because neither is listedI was wrong:
Compensatory Picks | Over the Cap
If Pruitt ends up signing with the Vikes before the draft, he would offset Lamm and we’d get a 4th for Jonnu
I had never heard of getting a compensatory pick for a coach until Saleh. Is that the reason why? Because he's a minority? So we should get one for Art then? Jets get one for Saleh..or is it because a minority hire?
It has to be, he was a coordinator and got hired away to a HC job...so was Art but we aren't getting one for his departureI had never heard of getting a compensatory pick for a coach until Saleh. Is that the reason why? Because he's a minority?

Yes.....this was put in place to incentivize minority hiring.
I get it. But this incentivizes the team he's leaving, not the team that hires him.Yes.....this was put in place to incentivize minority hiring.
Exactly...it does nothing for the team that is actually hiring a minorityI get it. But this incentivizes the team he's leaving, not the team that hires him.
I guess it's rewarding a team for letting a minority coach move into a bigger role?
If you look at it, this process actually de-incentives because the hiring team acknowledges their competitors are getting an extra pick for the hire. hire a “non minority” and the enemy doesn’t get anything.I get it. But this incentivizes the team he's leaving, not the team that hires him.
I think if a team is hiring the head coach they want, the other team getting a pick is pretty much an afterthought. If you look at it, this process actually de-incentives because the hiring team acknowledges their competitors are getting an extra pick for the hire. hire a “non minority” and the enemy doesn’t get anything.

In general I agree, which also eliminates the “incentive” at all then.I think if a team is hiring the head coach they want, the other team getting a pick is pretty much an afterthought.
IF the comp pick is considered, it will be a de-incentive.
If it’s not thought about, it’s not an incentive at all, just a random draft pick given to a random team that happened to previously hire a minority coach. And since it’s likely not a thought when hiring head coach, I highly doubt a team hires a minority coach on the expectation that he (or she, it’s coming) will be Worth a potential comp pick a couple years down the road.
So really what is the point. Who is this rule actually for?
I get it. But this incentivizes the team he's leaving, not the team that hires him.
It incentives hiring minority coaches for coordination positions, which are common stepping stones to head coaching gigs.

100% thisIt incentives hiring minority coaches for coordination positions, which are common stepping stones to head coaching gigs.
The NFL wants teams to think like this:It incentives hiring minority coaches for coordination positions, which are common stepping stones to head coaching gigs.
If we hire that guy now as a minority, we might be able to get a 3rd round pick a couple years from now.
but also avoid thinking like this:
If we hire that guy, the team we’re competing against will get an extra 3rd round pick.
they are absolutely hand in hand connected thought processes. So it is a de-incentive on the immediate payout but a potential incentive as an investment for future years.
just like the real draft, which has more value? This years pick or a future pick at the exact same spot?
Raider cut Maurice Hurst and Arden Key. Hurst would be perfect for our Dline.

Was he cut for any specific reason? I seem to remember him falling in the draft for off the field issues but don't recall what it was for. If it was just a cap move, I'm all for bringing him in.Raider cut Maurice Hurst and Arden Key. Hurst would be perfect for our Dline.

It was a possible medical issue that never developed into anything. Was he cut for any specific reason? I seem to remember him falling in the draft for off the field issues but don't recall what it was for. If it was just a cap move, I'm all for bringing him in.
