I could be off the mark, but LJ wasn't going to play anywhere else this year anyways given his contract demands. The Ravens boxed him in with the 2 1st round requirement in addition to his personal contract requests.
They could take less than the 2 firsts couldn't they? If they want "rid" of him

I suppose they could always just cut him, but why did they apply the Franchise Tag to him? That's where the 2 1st rounders originate, that and the ability to match another team's offer and retain his services.

It's my understanding is that the whole purpose is to retain bargaining power over a player who might be requesting prohibitive contract demands?

Well under the conditions of the tag a team must give up 2 first round picks to acquire him if the Ravens don't match another teams offer.

Maybe they would have to rescend the tag to take less? Not sure how that would work.

It is an interesting situation because if the Ravens have decided to move on from Lamar and want to get a first rnd pick in this draft then the Ravens/Lamar and team he would be traded to would all have to agree on a deal. Otherwise the other team would just wait until after the draft and sign Lamar to an offer sheet. Then the Ravens would have to decide whether they want to match the deal. If they did then the Ravens would get a 2024 and 2025 1st rnd pick.

I could see Irsay saying let’s grab Lamar and use our 4th pick this yr to improve our roster rather than taking a chance on Levis or Richardson.

Hopefully the Falcons trade for a certain 35 year old Titans QB for pick 74 and a 2024 4th rounder. Surely they have to realize that in terrible NFC North and an overall weak NFC in general, they could pretty easily make a deep run in the playoffs if they simply had a league average QB.

They already have 2 QB's on their roster that is better than Tannehill. But since they fantasize over our roster, you never know.

So they could do the same thing the titans could do with the exact same QB. Seems like the titans should just keep him and go for the same thing or better.

Except the Titans may not be the best team in our division. Our path to the playoffs, much less the SB is far more difficult than the Falcons.
