Seeing has we have secured Tanny and (hopefully soon for the long term) Henry, what do folks think about the 2017 draft class and it’s prospects for resigning in two tone blue?

Assuming Adoree gets his 5th year option picked up, does anyone see a scenario where we are able to bring back Jonnu, Jayon and Corey Davis?

Does anyone see a scenario where, even after a declined 5th year option, we manage to get Davis re-signed to a more team friendly deal as a #2 WR?

thanks all and hope everyone is having a safe Easter week amid all the craziness going on right now!

We have $64M in cap space for 2021 as of right now. Im assuming that will be closer to $50M tho once we reach a long term deal with Henry.

So with $50 surely we can swing paying a ILB, WR2, and the TE

Pick up Jacksons option soon and consider 2021 offseason quick and easy.

Sadly, I don't see Davis returning unless his option is picked up. Jayon is must sign. He had a bit of down year in 2019, which could have been related to injury, but on a per play basis he's still one of the top LBs in the league, IMO.

I would bring back Jonnu, but I'm not throwing bank at him. Eric Ebron has been substantially more productive, is a similar age, and he just signed for 2 years at 12 million. So if Jonnu is looking for much more than that, he can kick rocks.

I really want Adam Trautman or Brycen Hopkins in this year's draft. Both guys are both valuable as a blocker and receiver, but Trautman has a legit shot to be a Kelce/Ertz/Walker type of weapon in the passing game.

Davis will go to a team which actually throws the ball. Smith isn't going anywhere, the rest are up in the air.
I'd like to keep him, but I doubt we pick up his option. Sadly, cost wise, it won't be worth it. I actually can see him singing with the Patriots. Seems like a Belichick thing to do. Sign an underutilized, inexpensive player, with upside.

We'll see what next season holds.

That being said, I’ve heard it floated on Pats boards that a trade for Corey would be an option, if we trade him, what would get in return? I am thinking a 3rd would be decent return....

how would feel about Humphries as a #2 WR? Personally I think he can thrive in this offense still with a full year working with Tannehill!

I have no problem with him as the "#2' but he would still play slot most of the time. So we would need another outside guy. Unless they wana play a bunch of 2wide bunch sets

Hence the value of Davis as a WR who can start outside, perhaps he would be resigned to a new deal worth less in 2021 cap hit than the 5th year option. I believe Devante Parker has a similar scenario with the Dolphins, and ended up on a more team friendly deal. That’s my hope with Davis, as Humphries is better in the slot.

the other scenario would be trading him this year for a pick and taking advantage of the great WR class in the draft. Would a 3rd be too much for him? I am thinking we would at least get a 4th for Davis is JRob wanted to deal him

This great WR class is going to be at a disadvantage this year because of the lack of OTAs....gonna be harder to get in sync with the QB and offense without as many reps.

If their is a year when Davis is going to ball out then it will be during his contract year....not worth trading him for a mid-rnd pick

Brown is an absolute must sign, and I think Jonnu will be this time next year as well.
Jonnu had the 3rd highest catch rate, 4th highest YAC per reception of all WR s or TEs in the league last year. Opportunity is the only thing keeping him from being a top TE.

I like Jonnu, he's going to have a big year.

@Carp

Ebron? The only decent year he had was with Luck at QB..I'd rather have Jonnu.

What says we want Corey Davis back? And believe me, I hope he does, but he has to give us a reason to pick up his option.
I am not sure there is anything that could make us pick up his option. He can play his was 2 a good deal though I think. Even if it is a long shot.

Ebron averaged 62 receptions and 696 yards from 2015-2018. Jonnu hasn't sniffed those type of numbers yet.

That isn't to say I'd rather have Ebron. I just think they are the same type of TE. Good, not great pass catching tight end that is a liability as a blocker. You could also use Njoku or Cook as a comparison.

I am not sure but I bet jonnu likely had less than 62 targets and that was because of the offense. Not him. He is also a solid blocker. He was crap to start with but he is not any more. He is not great but he is a good all around te.

I will go as far to say that if there was a trade involving the 2. I would want ebron and a 3rd at the minimum for jonnu.

trade Davis. Just didn’t work out here. Never got any chemistry going- too many drops also. An early 3rd or better would be ok by me. He’s gone after his contract.
