Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

The throw chart shows it all. Steelers knew the Titans DB's would be playing off and they attacked underneath all game long knowing their speedy receivers could consistently get YAC and first downs. These throws do not require a lot of time to develop (I think Ben's average throw time after the snap was a bit over 2 seconds). On many of the defensive snaps in the first half, the dbs and lbs were moving back on the snap. The defense did not have any success until they started sending 5 rushers and playing the CB's a little closer. The tackling was also much improved in the second half.

Schematically, Vrabel and Bowen need to bring pressure on a more consistent basis or teams will continue to have no issues moving up and down the field. The Steelers had the ball for 38 minutes yesterday. Luckily, this defense has gotten some timely turnovers that have masked this problem, but as yesterday showed, even winning the turnover battle 3-0 isn't enough when you can't stop a team on third down and there are breakdowns in other areas of the team.

so they played pu$sy football, got it

i think i summed it up pretty well?

it was Manning level of pussiness, just 2-5 yard passes.. garbage
The pass Brown took to the house was around 5 yards.

When corners are playing as far off the LOS the Titans do, why wouldn't you take what the defense is giving you? He was getting the ball out in under 3 seconds which nullified any pass rush most of the time. I call it smart football.

It led to the Steelers building a 20 point lead and getting a win despite losing the turnover battle 3-0.

Absolutely! Those 3rd and ones are not so bad, but 3rd and 12s? Unaceptable on a regular basis.

I didn't see Rothlis do anything special. His receivers bailed him out.He hot extremely lucky on those dump passes where he was cornered.
It's hard to come back from what looked like a runaway train at halftime. I didn't think our defense would do as well as they did. They showed up, a little late, but that happens.
The kicker missed, it was not a chip shot, and it was close. It did take an extra half second to get yhe ball set, maybe it throwed him offIt happens and I am sure he feels bad about it.

The corner had his hand against Davis chest on that last pass, could have been called interference.

I am just glad we played them close on a day that was not our best, a lot of bounces went the Steelers way.
Hopefully, with everyone back and some practice, it will be a great rest of the season for the Titans.
Agree with everything you said, but we can't make a deep run against playoff teams with our defence like this. Definetly the toughest team we've played this year and big Ben wasn't even outstanding, statistically he was pretty shit but we'd need our offense to dig us out 3 games in the playoffs at least against the best teams and we've just lost against a playoff team. So disheartening after dreading years of inept offense that now we got everything clicking our defense has leapt so far backwards.

Sucks to lose, but that second half took some of the sting out of it. To play that bad and still have a shot to win, that says something. There's a lot of things to work on, but this team is 5-1. Unless they implode, we should have the division at a minimum.

Still can’t believe we didn’t take Blankenship in the 7th.
Huge gaff by JR. Not only did he waste a pick on a QB that was cut, he let the best kicker go to a division rival. I'm a massive JR fan, but this decision pissed me off at the draft, and likely always will. Just can't wrap my head around it.

I think sometimes these guys overthink stuff looking for a “home run” late pick. Instead of being effective. He also let Jonathan Taylor go to the Colts. I like Jrob, and he’s made some stud picks too, but he has done some bone headed stuff with late picks. The inability to handle the place kicker situation is unreal too....

Why would he use a first round pick on a RB with Henry on the roster?
If he had taken Taylor, I would have second guessed that by a lot. It wasn’t a “bone head” move to not take Taylor, it does appear to be one taking Wilson.

I honestly thought we were gonna ride with Joseph when JRob didn’t address K with the draft or FA months ago. Gostkowski was brought in like 2-3 weeks(?) before the season and if I read the story right, it was only after some horrible practices by Joseph.

Wtf were we gonna do with Jonathan Taylor? Lol

Its also one thing to say we should have drafted player x, but its another to say we let player x get drafted by another team!

By that logic, every player not drafted by us (except for 1st round picks before ours) was allowed to be drafted to that team by Jrob. And other teams allowed us to draft the players we took.

Let’s not compare Marlon Mack to the NFL’s leading rusher who we just signed to a big extension....
Not comparing him to Henry, and Henry signed his extension after the draft so at the time of the draft did we know he would be extended?

I'm saying it doesnt hurt to have 2 good RBs...if Henry goes down we're not the same team.
Indy is not the first team to do it either

It sucks that Taylor ended up in Indy, but that wouldn't have been a good pick for us. Sure, if Wilson busts, Taylor would have been better. But that's irrelevant. As for JR not properly addressing the K situation, that's a head scratcher.

That’s why we drafted Evans though.
