Good point, but if you looked at Watt when we was in spread formation, he never rushed the QB. It definitely was a chess match today. We almost never bought Jonnu to help out Kelly today. Jonnu helping out Kelly would've kept Watt on his toes, yet we seemed to only send out Swain to help out Kelly. Watt never viewed Swain as a pass threat and still bought the house.

We honestly should've spread out Jonnu on Watt's end all day long. Baffles we how Jonnu was such a non factor today.

Remember that Jonnu is nursing an injured ankle. I bet that limited his effectiveness, but he was in blocking quite a bit.

Not even upset about this L, we lost to a better team but proved that we can hang with the best team in the league and that our offense can score at will when we’re focused. Even in a loss, this game showed that we’re legit contenders this year.

Yes that would've been cool had we lost without the need of a last second FG. I'm just pissed we lost in the fashion of fighting back and losing because of a FG kicker.

Defense is a joke steelers we're 7 for 7 on 3rd down conversions at 1 point. That is ****ing unacceptable for any nfl team. Dont give a **** how good our offense is. Yes they keep us relevant in game but God dam they cant pull it out the hat for us every week
Absolutely! Those 3rd and ones are not so bad, but 3rd and 12s? Unaceptable on a regular basis.

I didn't see Rothlis do anything special. His receivers bailed him out.He hot extremely lucky on those dump passes where he was cornered.
It's hard to come back from what looked like a runaway train at halftime. I didn't think our defense would do as well as they did. They showed up, a little late, but that happens.
The kicker missed, it was not a chip shot, and it was close. It did take an extra half second to get yhe ball set, maybe it throwed him offIt happens and I am sure he feels bad about it.

The corner had his hand against Davis chest on that last pass, could have been called interference.

I am just glad we played them close on a day that was not our best, a lot of bounces went the Steelers way.
Hopefully, with everyone back and some practice, it will be a great rest of the season for the Titans.

They all chipped on the edge rushers all game. That’s why.

Yeah, spread is great, but then you’re relying on the o-line to win their one-on-one matchups, which I’m not sure they would.

AND everything we do on offense looks the same whether it’s a run, pass, or play actions. It’s one of the things that makes it effective. You lose that going spread.

Also believe, I'm not a fan of the spread, being that this is not college football.

I just felt that we needed to get Watt and Dupree away from the line scrimmage and the only way to do that was to spread AJ, Jonnu, CD84 and Hump out.

It was funny how the Defense looked better that series Clowney went down. Dude was a waste of money ya ok he can pressure the Qb at times, he made that one tackle/fumble but other than that he's garbage.

He just doesn’t love the game. He never has. He’s one of those guys who plays because he was given the talent to do so and he can make generational money doing it. He loafs constantly and takes plays off by the handful.

If he played with Kyle Vanden Bosch’s effort he’d get more than 2 sacks a year and wouldn’t have signed a desperation 1-year deal the week of training camp.

I agree. I'll be honest, his body language shows me that he doesn't care. Even when we make a play on defense he never celebrates or gets happy with the rest of the team. He's an outkast at this point. I've yet to see him celebrate with the team.

I would be royally shocked if ANYONE on our defense will be even close to garnering pro bowl votes. Unless something changes very quick, very soon....

That’s why he should’ve only been paid vet minimum and performance bonus of 1 million for every sack he gets, I bet he’d be playing much better, Beasley too. There’s not many players left who actually love the game of football.

I'm pumped to see how we do the rest of the season. Our ceiling is so high when our defense plays well. To hold Pit to 3 points, we haven't seen what the Titans can be. 6 games in with a new defense coordinator. Going to take sometime. 5-1 is a lot better than 2-4. Big thing is no more injuries.

The steelers are on such a high right now fans and the team behaving as if the season is over , they'll be flat against the ratbirds next Sunday , and that game is the game that matters (afc north) because it's a div. game for both of them.

Proud of how they battled back, sad about the outcome. This team will be deadly once the D settles in. I hope we get the playoff rematch

A game like this can humble you, bring you "back to earth" and show you your flaws... figure out how to fix them.

The problem is... we've known what our problems are for weeks and have yet to figure out how to fix them.

We finally get a GREAT offense and now my fear is it will be squandered by a bad defense.

I don't see Gostkowski getting better as the weather gets worse. It's inexcusable for an NFL kicker to be making only 62.5 of his FG attempts.

But the bigger issue is the defense. I know getting Adoree back will help but I think we have an issue with scheme or the plays called on third down.

Here's an article about he Titans D last season before the Chiefs game:
Titans Bring Bill Belichick-Flavored Defensive Scheme into Week 10 Showdown vs. Chiefs.

It's pretty good at breaking down the Titans defensive scheme and how to beat it. I'm seeing a lot of the same things now (crossing and rub routes) they're unable to stop on third down.

Obviously, without a better pass rush, no scheme adjustments will work.

The throw chart shows it all. Steelers knew the Titans DB's would be playing off and they attacked underneath all game long knowing their speedy receivers could consistently get YAC and first downs. These throws do not require a lot of time to develop (I think Ben's average throw time after the snap was a bit over 2 seconds). On many of the defensive snaps in the first half, the dbs and lbs were moving back on the snap. The defense did not have any success until they started sending 5 rushers and playing the CB's a little closer. The tackling was also much improved in the second half.

Schematically, Vrabel and Bowen need to bring pressure on a more consistent basis or teams will continue to have no issues moving up and down the field. The Steelers had the ball for 38 minutes yesterday. Luckily, this defense has gotten some timely turnovers that have masked this problem, but as yesterday showed, even winning the turnover battle 3-0 isn't enough when you can't stop a team on third down and there are breakdowns in other areas of the team.
