Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Indy's defense is better than I thought. They put quite a few hard hits on the Titans and knocked us off of our game. There were a few late hits on Tanny, but those left an impression. This is what frustrates the hell out of me with our D. I cannot understand how the Titans can't get a few hard hits on the other teams qb? Even if it means giving up a big play or a penalty for a late hit, you got to make the other qb uneasy and the Titans simply do not do this ever. Whether its old man Rivers or the young Burrow, the opposing qb NEVER takes a hard hit.
I think the D actually played well. My biggest concern is they looked timid right out of the gate. A lot of times they were in the right position but just didn't finish. Again, I kind of blame that on coaching. How many times yesterday did we see the RB get hit at line or for a small gain but they were able to push the pile 3 or 4 yards forward. Even when we had number rallying around. They out physical-ed us at the point of attack. Crazy.

Rivers longest completed pass travelled 21 yds in the air... his avg depth of target was 5.1 yds.....his avg air yds was 2.7

It is really hard to get a pass rush going when the ball is coming out quick and short.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the defense does against the Ravens...we have seen how QBs who are willing to dink and dunk can just kill us with a thousand paper cuts....Josh Allen who prefers to throw deeper did not fair well...Lamar is certainly not the type of QB who will pick us apart with short passes

At this rate, Titans will be wasting a good offense.

By the time the staff "figures it out", the key components of the offense will have already peaked and either going bad or simply signed to another team.

Great job Titans!

Wasted talent.
Agree with this, this was the year for us to win the division, challenge the conference and make a SB appearance. Defence has been lack luster and coaches replacement haven't been effective. Offense is stacked, good/average rotational and defense is now drab compared to last year.

Post them. Let’s see it.

He only had 4 targets on the night and caught one pass. The other throw was on the goal line that was in double coverage. Got the roughing the passer penalty. So yeah 2 drops.

1/4...I swear I remember him dropping more than two. But the third could have been a bad toss from Tannehill. Either way the whole game was a damn mess.

And this is currently our best option at kicker. FML.

Hard to blame D for that one. Colts were 4/12 on third down and Titans got 2 big 4th down stops. Offense couldnt do anything with the ball and plenty of opportunities. Special teams were the real killer. 14 easy points off punts and a missed field goal.

Gostkowski needs to go. And I dont know why they went with another punter...the guy last week did fine!

D still isnt great but getting better it seems... O is just getting worse by the week somehow.

yep, gotta be honest. The defensive woes are definitely propped up by ST that Fs things up, and an offense that can't sustain drives.

Stopping them at the goal line, then having that shanked punt... just brutal.

That depends on definition of "elite." Mahomes seems like a once in every couple decades kinda player. If that is the definition of elite, not many people will fill those shoes.

I'd say Tannehill is a solid QB. Rankings and qualifications of eliteness are pretty much useless, anyway. Not many young Mannings/Brees/Bradys in the league right now.

We have been so starved for good QB play in the last 20 years... I'll appreciate any kind of good QB play.
Yes, tammy is a solid starter but that person who posted saying he's elite just had me saying Titan fans wearing some rosey colored lenses viewing him as elite. He good but I cannot say he even same category as Wilson or Rogers.

I've said it before, you have to have at least 1 superbowl appearance or win one to even be considered elite level.

Hit the mark. I think the last few weeks have raised some questions, but I still have way more confidence in Tannehill than I have in any of our last "attempts" at filling the position.

Middle of the field got worked last night. Its not just the CBS.

Brown, Byard, Vac are all playing like trash.

Vrabel needs to ditch his BFF this off season and get a DC. These same players were playing much different last year.

We are wasting away our window

yep, hard to see anyone on the field (excluding the obvious players) that couldn't be replaced with a rookie, with similar to better results.. If only JR had drafted a rookie that is worth sticking out there. So far, nothing. With this play, and this draft class.. not looking so hot.

LBs have been horrible, as a unit. DBs have been awful. DaQuan and Simmons are the only people that look interested in making plays. Too early to judge on D King, I guess.

Yeah...the sad thing is I was really excited about our defense this year. I thought we were solid enough in the secondary and that they'd improve...and where in the HELL did our pass rush go? Not hiring a DC may have been the worst offseason mistake we made....which is really saying something, considering the Wilson, Beasley, and Joseph debacles. Clowney can almost be thrown in there too.

I never made excuses for Mariota and I was calling out Locker while everyone here was still in love with him. It's not about making excuses, it's about being subjective. Tannehill is not why we lost yesterday and he's not why we lost to Cinncy or the Steelers. He actually put us in a position to win against Pitt. His worst game was the Bears, which we won anyway.

He has two dropped picks that I can think of, maybe there was a third. That's part of the game. Mahomes has had defenders drop picks too. That's why those guys play defense. The receivers and TEs are supposed to catch the ball. Tanny has thrown some DIMES in the face of pressure only to result in drops. You can only get knocked down so many times. There is something to be said about being and rhythm and having momentum. Outside of Mahomes, you'd be hard pressed to plug-in another QB there and expect a significantly different result. Even Wilson. Look at his struggles so far.

Can he play better? Sure. But he's not reason why we lost. Blaming him is just the easy way out. AJ was a bigger culprit yesterday. Vrabel was #1.

Show me where I’ve said we lost the game solely because of Tannehill? I’ve been critical of our defense since week 2. In fact, I was called a fake fan for being critical of our defense and that I was “over reacting.”

Sure RT isn’t the only reason we’ve lost our 3 games this year but he didn’t do anything until garbage time vs the Steelers. Got outplayed by a rookie against the Bengals and couldn’t keep a drive going last night. Sure he throws dimes when he gets hit but he throws errant passes when he’s got a clean pocket too. Ball to Jonnu. Had a ball to AJ or Corey that was way behind them. Ball to firkser on 3rd down on his last drive.

You need to watch more QB’s play if you say only Mahomes is better than RT lol that’s just asinine. Absolute homer comment for sure.

I dont see any downside to playing man to man and blitzing every play.

We are already allowing 30 points per game, so we cant do any worse... the only difference is that they dont drink n dunk down the field while our defense gets gassed instead just score quick on a 50 yard catch and out worthless defense can get off the field

30pts/gm is bending not breaking apparently
