It is just amazing how many players we sign just because of special teams but somehow our special teams continue to suck. It isnt the players.
ST consists of KO, KR, Punts, PR, FG
We don’t suck at all of them. PR has been an issue (although I don’t know we saw anything against ARZ for this year) and FG is clearly a problem.
otherwise, I think we have some of the best ST.

Considering every game that is not perfect from the kicker JRob waives them and moves to someone new, kickers have to be thinking about this as a titan.
Now, in addition to whatever the normal pressure is on the kicker, they have to worry about their job with every kick.

Bring on #11. (Again, not even counting Mcann or any other kicker we’ve had during the training camps/preseason since 2019). Probably the only team that had a K on the PS.

If you are a kicker who is brought in last minute then you know that your job is on the line if you screw up....he didn't get the job done...cost us 4 points.

Right, I’m sure our PS guy is the answer.

my comment isnt support for bagdley. It’s that waiving him doesn’t improve anything. We still have a rental kicker until our permanent rental (ficken) comes back.
Just keep whoever this next kicker is but limit the use.
My other point is that these kickers coming into Tennessee are aware that we haven’t had a good kicker in 2+ years. These guys come in knowing they have an opportunity to possibly win a permanent job but also have to keep it in their mind that if they miss, their opportunity is over. I think a little more patience from the Titans pays off better as we see with succop, santos, Joseph all of which we had, but now have steady kicker positions elsewhere.

badgley’s probably not the answer, but why not give the guy a couple weeks to build any kind of confidence or consistency?

or at least learn someones name

radio said bagdley was a 100% complete stranger to everyone. Nothing but a name on a Robinson rolodex

Being brought in last minute is a recipe for screw ups
Besides, we lost by 25...kicker wasn't the only problem

Even Ficken is just the current guy on the kicker carousel we've been running since Succop got injured.

A decent camp and a 58 yarder in pre-season and everyone thinks he's amazing.

That’s true. So give bullock a few weeks at least.
If he still sucks, ficken is next.
If he turns out good, then F it, let ficken go. If he sucks super bad, stop using a K at least until Ficken comes back for many “normal” kicking situations.
I’d also be ok teaching kern how to kick.

There’s a lot of people who were calling for Succop to be cut in 2019. Now everyone is saying “we shoulda kept him” lol

Titans are at least bringing in proven guys. Badgley had a great track record in LA. Bullock is an 83% FG kicker in his career.

Badgley was just shy of 83% in his career before last week

And I’m good with bringing in “proven” guys. Just stick with them.
I think part of the kicking problem is strictly based on the continuous throwing out of a new kicker.
I badgley wasn’t the guy expected to stay.

I think Vrabel needs to change his mindset a little anyway if not using the kicker as much.

I also agree on the succop thing, I also wanted him gone, thought age and the recovery wasn’t going to happen.
that said, I don’t know why JRob didn’t keep Joseph. He was perfect in all the kicks he took for tennessee.

Agreed but fans ripped team last year for hanging onto Gostkowski. Fans will just complain either way lol
Santos was a unique case like this. Money until the Buffalo game. Should have kept him too but also game time, shouldn’t have allowed him to miss 4 FG. Kickers have bad games too.

Do I think he kicked well enough to keep his job this year, no.
Do I think his first game back was poor, yep. And to help prove my point, he went 3/4 xp the next week and perfect from there on out in XP. His FG were iffy, but he was 8/8 after his first game misses in the next 2 weeks.

He was also 7/8 from 50+, his inconsistencies from under that are likely what cost him his job.

So for comparison, I absolutely think Badgley should have gotten another couple weeks at least. Same with santos 2 years ago, although that loss to Buffalo was a painful one. Then I thought Parkey could have stayed and played through his misses.
I also think we should have kept Joseph from a couple years ago meaning Gostkowski wouldn’t have been here at all last year (unless of course Joseph started missing).

I was glad to move on from Succup, didn’t see him bouncing back, dead wrong, he’s doing fine.
I was ok moving on from Gostkowski after a season full of inconsistencies with FG inside 50.
Santoso was a waste and never kicked any FG or XP. Not sure why he was on the team really, but does add another piece that Vrabel, JRob, or whoever is picking kickers is a little out of their league.
