Heard on XM that the Tits (and others) didn't want to tie up $20 mil until post free agency to potentially have Clowney fail a physical. So expect him to sign at a deep discount or after the draft.
I'm not sure which is better but Golden did get more tackles, assists, and sacks last year.

Makes sense. He probably has offers on the table that are contingent on him passing a physical.
His market may go down a bit after the draft, but it seems like FA has slowed down considerably and there's not a particularly special draft class at DE/OLB, so he should have a pretty good market once he can prove his health.

Casey has had a high of 10 sacks in a season once in his 8 yrs. Golden has had multiple yrs with 10+ more sacks a yr. in a 5 yr career. He also out tackle Casey last yr too. Every single category Golden has outplayed Casey last yr.
Was just about to post this. He had his first ever "off" year last year but other than that he's been great. Woulda be cool with bringing him in. I assume we're rolling with our own Greg for sure at this point
He would have been a nice upgrade for sure

You can’t compare an OLB with a 3tech, Casey has to take on the meat of every OL and main responsibility is the run game. DTs outside of Aaron Donald rarely break 10 sacks.
replacing Casey with Golden is apples to oranges. Golden may get the edge successfully but now QBs just step right up into the pocket because we no longer have a middle presence with the Casey void.
We need a replace the for Casey before we need another 10mil Edge rusher.

And we need a DL or someone who can play DE in a 3-4. Clowney works. Not sure Golden can do that.
