If you don’t think the GM and owner is in on the tanking you’re out of your mind.
I dont think HCs ever play to lose. Where it gets interesting in when the HC is the GM. I think you could see an exception where Billechick rolls out a substandard squad on purpose and rests players that could have played in key situation so they can get an early pick. It only makes sense. That roster is not playoff caliber and he is smart enough to see that.

Youre right but every coach has someone in the higher that tells them what to do each game. Those things dont really come to light but why do you think GMs are there every game?? Certainly not to just scout players each gameday....

I doubt that happens much outside of Dallas and Jerry Jones.

Makes sense now, he was just always on the lookout for a top draft pick.
Actually, I meant that he often didn’t play to win as much as avoiding losing. A conservative approach in the vein of prevent defense. He was a mixed bag. Sometimes pulling out a ton of tricks and going for it and others, playing not to lose.

I knew what you meant, it was a joke.

You don’t get a nickname like FG Fisher by putting the pedal to the metal.
He had a lot of trick plays and almost seemed like he tried to put himself in position to need them at least from an offensive side.
His defense was usually really good until he had a lead of a TD or more.

He definitely gave us some good years, but I think his ego got in the way of his critical thinking skills. The same thing with Jerry Granville back in the day.

I do sometimes wonder............would we be better off if we could get Larry and Logan instead of just Javeon? Would make us monster deep on the offensive line and defensive backfield. But Javeon, he certainly brings a dimension we are lacking at the moment.

We would improve the line with Warford, but Ryan was limited in his ability and we needed to get faster in the secondary which we did. Clowney would be useful for sure in our Defense, but who knows what he’s going to do. I’m not believing one shred of the stuff being printed on a daily basis about where he will wind up.

Why would we sign Larry right after going Guard in the first?

They drafted a RT (Jack Conklin) at #8. What makes you think they won’t at #29 while giving up nothing? Lol. Dude is here to be a right tackle. They know damn well Kelly isn’t the answer.
