So what is the point then?

Somebody who is willing to risk extreme hardship to come to a country where a different language is spoken just to work a menial job for crappy pay?

Can we ever have enough of these people?


America has become a nation of bedwetting lazy idiots with their hand out for any free stuff they can get from our government and you are bothered by somebody crossing an imaginary line to pick strawberries?
 
Kennedy-Mccain from 2007 included the dream act in it's entirety. But while the dream act is for young adults who were brought here illegally by their parents the Kennedy-McCain bill was for all illegal immigrants who met the criteria.

Any illegal immigrant under Kennedy-Mccain without a criminal record could apply for the Z visa, pay the $2000 fine and back taxes and be allowed to stay in the country legally with a possibility for citizenship 5 years down the road.

So the dream act from 2001 is far less comprehensive and sweeping then the 2007 bill and actually a very moderate bill.

So why are so many republicans against it? Again i ask what is wrong with that bill?

Actually the argument goes the other way because GoT will stick his chest out and say he wants to deport ALL illegal immigrants no matter what color knowing full well that the vast majority of them are not white.

The issue has racial overtones when we talk about millions of people as if they are dirty and are dirtying our country. When we talk about 10M people as if they are all criminals.
 
i could really care less about illegals coming over, its the ones with ties to the cartel and other gangs that i am worried about. as long as they are hard working, honest people who are on their way to becoming citizens, i could not care less. we honestly need more people like that here.

you also have to remember that this is the south, i doubt tennessee sees many border jumpers from canada settle down here. i wonder if it is more discussed up north.

It's very easy for Canadians to get a work visa to come here and eventually a green card to stay. They don't need and most don't want to come here.

I knew a guy from Edmonton who went to Denver in 1983 to study to be a Catholic priest and he had no problem getting a student visa and has been here ever since.

If you are from a poor country you have to jump hoops for years just to get here. My wife's grandfather lived here for 10 years and became a citizen. He sponsored 3 of his daughters to come here and it took 13 years before they were able to come. By the time they came their average age was 56 and they all had health problems. It's been a struggle.
 
USA should reexamine that whole sponsor/anchor thing.

Everyone should migrate upon their individual merits or not if they dont care for that
 
You have a hard time understanding that we are talking about human beings not some powdered substance.

And knock it off with this self righteous legalistic bullcrap! There are people doing illegal things you don't give a crap about.
 
human beings who should NOT be in the USA.

humans who should be rounded up and thrown back from whence they came so they can apply and come to the USA legally
