He is a guy who could re-sign for much much less later in the off season....he certainly isn’t going to command big money with his concussion history

However, with how many TE’s we use there is no need for an expensive 3rd WR on this team. Just simply not enough targets to go around.

Have the rules changed where you can't use that money until it's freed up. The Chiefs spent like crazy last off-season despite not having any room until they cut players.

He could have been designated as a June cut. The cap doesn’t come into play until the play begins... we can spend all we want right now.
I wonder if it's possible that we negotiated with him on a buyout of sorts so that he could be a free agent early instead of after June, and we take a smaller cap hit.
I think he would be a fool to continue playing. He is so concussion prone at this point he is begging for long term issues. NFL should make him sign a concussion waiver if he comes back.
