JenkinsThis is the worst group of DB’s we’ve had since JRob took over.
Jenkins is basically what McCourty was for us and we don’t know what Fulton will be yet.
2016 DB’s:
McCourty
Perish Cox
Brice McCain
Kevin Byard
Da’Norris Searxy
Ranked 30th in pass defense that year.
Johnson
Fulton
Borders
Byard
Hooker
I really don’t think this is that terrible. All of Jenkins stats last year were better than Butler or Jackson = upgrade. All of Hookers stats last year were better than Vacarro = upgrade. CB2 and S3 are the real question marks.

Jenkins also wasn’t the CB1 on his team though. Butler was facing the teams best WR’s all year long. Not an apples to apples comparison.

What stats?
Butler had more tackles than Jenkins, more interceptions than Jenkins, and had a better PFF grade than Jenkins.
Let’s not forget about Cruikshank. I can see him get a shot to compete.
Stats aside, every time we got beat deep it was Butler getting toasted. What stats?

Not a ton of difference, but Butler clearly had the edge. If we had Burtler and Jenkins at the expense of Adoree, that would have been a better deal. I assume there is someone else in the plans. What stats?

Saints fans say the same thing about Jenkins lol they are both aggressive corners. That’s gonna happen when you play that way.
Poking around at what coverage stats I can get for free on Jenkins and Butler, and man, Marshon Lattimore got gashed last year.
Butler had a 70 PFF grade, Jenkins a 67, and Lattimore a 54.
Butler got thrown at more than anyone in the league and gave up an 80 passer rating and 5 TD's, Lattimore gave up an 87 passer rating and 7 TD's in about 35 less targets. Lattimore gave up a 93 passer rating and 10 yards per target (which is unheard of) in 2018.

Firkshow just plays for the love of the gameAnyone see how much we signed Firkser for?
According to PK, it looks like they are wanting Kevin Johnson as the nickel back with Fulton at CB2.
Cap situation is basically maxed out. 15 million left in cap space before factoring in Jenkins, Johnson, Firkser, Sambrillo. and draft picks.

Looking at some Johnson coverage stats the last 2 years, I don't feel as bad about that as I did yesterday.
A lot rides on Fulton's shoulders, though.
$2.5m, $2.25m guaranteed. That might be Swaim, I saw one had details released the other didnt, last time I checked.Anyone see how much we signed Firkser for?
I think I saw some folks asking about what Bud got paid.
The Titans signed Bud Dupree to a five-year, $82 million deal this week — despite tearing his ACL late in the 2020 season.

Only 5.6 mil towards the cap this season. That’s some cap wizardry right there.I think I saw some folks asking about what Bud got paid.

Which is great and all, but means some huge cap hits down the line.Only 5.6 mil towards the cap this season. That’s some cap wizardry right there.
Not necessarily, for example, $10 mil over the 5 years is only 2 per season. If the last years are voidable, you could minimize the blow. I’m thinking the number reported is a phantom number in regards to total payout.Which is great and all, but means some huge cap hits down the line.
even if there are, with the new tv contract doubling money, cap will be bouncing up over the next few seasons.Which is great and all, but means some huge cap hits down the line.
Most people are expecting a huge increase in salary cap next season. I wouldn’t put it past the owners to slowly increase the cap, instead. Could be that next year’s cap is still below $200 million.even if there are, with the new tv contract doubling money, cap will be bouncing up over the next few seasons.
yeah I was thinking that and figured I should say over the next "few" seasons instead of lumping it into "next" season. Most people are expecting a huge increase in salary cap next season.
