Which is more plausible:
a) Ineptness of political leaders to provide a clear and meaningful path in the face of a crisis that they were woefully unprepared for
or
b) All the leaders and health officials in the US and world banding together to falsify data in order to make the US president look bad in an election year
I tend to lean towards the Hanlon's razor approach: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity"
