Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

That's part of my point but I still don't think AJ is worth $20 with Rogers. At least not yet. He has some flaws that some people may not want to admit.

That said, if/when someone overpays for him, that's fine. I'll be happy and cheer him on. I just hope it isn't us.

OR he stays home with a reasonable deal. Like Landry and BDH.
I don't understand this. We have been the worst team in the NFL at developing receivers, we finally get one and you don't want to pay him. Nonsense imo. The contracts for receivers look wild now, just wait until Jefferson/chase are up for extension. The market will be reset again.

Also it's an absolute pipe dream that AJ is going to give us some sort of deal. He's not quiet on twitter about gawking over other receivers deals.

I can’t stand the domino effect garbage either. People get new contracts based off what another person gets and often, it’s seems like a direct comparison between the 2 isn’t made but more like where a person would fall positional paid among like positions. To me, that’s a stupid way to negotiate.
For example, adams getting overpaid by LV should not immediately mean other teams agree to over pay for Hill. If they’re willing to pay, I guess that’s on them but it shouldn’t be used as “the bar” at a later negotiation.

we can argue Adams put up numbers to be considered the #1 WR in the league, his price is set accordingly. Hill is not #2 and is reaching a point that historically, a speed WR may start to decline. Even so, if another WR tries to use them as comparison, teams should be willing to say, “but your not as good”. That’s not a criticism if they’re saying you’re good but not the best. That should absolutely be the talk when we’re talking about a much lesser player like a #2/3 WR. That’s how bums like flacco and Eli manning broke the bank. They were never “the best” and should have never been in consideration of being paid as “the best”.
Let them sit out (I think JRob does pretty well on passing on the “overpriced” players). While it’s not discussed nearly as often when these huge contracts are announced is how that hurts the rest of the team.
Specifically for WR, you will never win a SB (or be complete failure) because of WR, so they should never be paid like they are.
DJ Moore is not the #3 WR in the league but he was recently paid like it ....it's out of control...lower the cap! I don't care if the owners get richer, it's their team

If he wants $20+ mil, I think we let him go.

Love AJ brown and what he offers, but unless there is a significant change in offensive approach in which a WR is going to be in a position to put up $20+ mil worth of production, it’s a waste of money.

titans are still a run first team and that’s not changing until at least Henry moves on. Until then, stick with a grip of solid #2/3 WR and ride with Brown until his contract is up.

This team is powered by Henry, he's our heart and soul....and he's getting 12 million? We can't pay Brown 20..it's a joke what we're paying Tannehill

Give me aj over henry going forward. Henry's wheels are about to fall off anytime anyway.

Powered by henry? We literally played better and secured the #1 with henry watching at home lol. Love henry but he's not a god.
They were 6-2 and giving Henry a record pace of carries before he got injured. I thinks it arguable they were “better” after he got hurt and they were definitely powered by Henry while healthy.

They did show some other abilities after he went down, specifically showcasing how good the D was.

Lowering the cap won't change anything in relation to keeping players. A player making 10 million in a 100 million salary cap takes up the same percentage of cap as someone making 20 million on a 200 million salary cap. I would much rather the players get paid most of the money. Eff the billionaire owners who have been overcharging for admission and concessions for decades.

What's not to get?

Who's been Tom Brady's best receiver? Randy Moss? Guess how many rings he has... zero. Wes Welker... zero. Who has he won rings with? Edelman, Deion Branch, David Givens, and Troy Brown. Not exactly game breakers. Mike Evans is elite, but Evans didn't even make the Pro Bowl that year and had 1 catch in the SB. He makes $16M per year. That team also had Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin. Not too shabby. That's called part of a TEAM.

How about Calvin Johnson? T.O.?... zero. zero. Jerry Rice has a few but he played with two HOF QBs. Julio Jones and Davante Adams had future HOF QBs... zero and zero. Kuddos to Tyreek Hill for winning a ring, he was making $18M but that guy Mahomes is pretty special.

Wide Receivers don't win Super Bowls. Again, I love AJ, but you think he's worth 10% of the salary cap? We are already paying the QB, RB, and both OLBs. LT (whomever it is moving forward) deserves a large chunk. You also need at least 3 decent WRs, you want to pay 10% to just one? Not a sound strategy. How are you going to field a competitive team?

I'm not dreaming that he's going to give us a deal. I literally said I'll be happy for him when some team over pays him. I just hope it isn't us. I'm happy for Corey Davis but I'm glad it wasn't us paying him.

Who knows... Maybe I'm wrong and the Raiders and Dolphins both win Super Bowls. But I doubt it.

Admission goes up because salaries are increasing don't they?

Henry means more to this team than Brown... Brown will be around longer but Henry is the heart not Brown...yes both are replaceable but I doubt defences are worried about Brown like they are with Henry

I'd say sign aj to a large contract cuz we are about to have a decade long streak of busted / washed QBs so well save a lot of money

Oof. I’d be a shame if someone posted the Titans record before and after the injury as well as offensive statistics. It’d be a damn shame.

he's still the face of the franchise

AJ is a nobody outside of TN

AJ hasn't taken over games like Henry.. good games? yes.. winning games single handedly? no
Unfortunately this is true. AJ can be lights out and one of the top 5 WRs but this is a team built on Henry. Everyone outside TN knows king Henry and when he's beasting he's unstoppable. It sucks that young WRs like DK, Jefferson, CeeDee, JaMarr, Deebo etc are all recognized by casual fans but AJ isn't. Maybe it's because Tammy doesn't target him enough

AJ Brown is absolutely recognized by other teams fans.
