Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

I think he just wanted to kill someone there....
So he left 55 yards on the field because he wanted to hit someone. Lovely.
I can do this all day man.
All are one cut and play-side runs. No one denies Henry can make the one cut play-side run. If he didn't he wouldn't have been drafted until the third day. What I worry about is his ability to sift through the line and make it to the backside hole without having to turn his entire body.

He goes backside on this one. Too bad he has to stop his momentum, turn his entire body, and then begin to accelerate. That takes time that doesn't exist in the NFL.

Here's a great look at what Derrick will be doing for us, hitting power scheme holes with great timing:

This might look easy, but if a back doesn't trust his blocks and have patience, the whole play will get blown up. Then the fact that he has great burst through the line and gets an extra 3 yards after contact is a huge bonus.

Thanks for making that comment! Despite having watched every play of every Alabama game this season, this made me go back and look at some of his highlights and film.

Came away laughing and even more excited for him to be on our team because I had forgotten just how stupidly easy he makes brushing off tackles, his vision, burst, and extremely understated speed. I saw more guys taking terrible angles than any one I can remember.

The reason people like yourself knock him is because he makes plays look so much easier than they actually are. A true sign of greatness is making the impossibly difficult look easy. Watch a game with Brady, Brees or Rodgers and they all make the game look so simple; they're just playing pitch and catch with their receivers. Bad QB's make everything look like a challenge... because it is! The greats just make it look easy. And Henry absolutely has all the tools to be great in this league.

Oh. An Alabama fan...

That still hasn't even realized his team could put that Bazinga guy from Big Bang Theory at RB and he'd rack up yards...

Bruh. He makes running inside look like brain surgery. He's not good. Sorry.

Its easy to be a DW ... I could sit here and predict every 1st and 2nd round pick to be a bust, and I would probably be right on more than 50% of those predictions because the fact of the matter is, most players won't live up to their expectations.

But that doesn't mean I know sh*t about football or evaluating players.

You missed the part where I also am right on the ones that don't bust.

BUT... if you can be me, I'd try my best to do that. Don't sell yourself short.

Why do you stay here? Why? Obviously you hate the team, you hate the players. So just leave. If you can do such a better job, then go work your way onto a scouting crew. Work your way up to GM and take... whoever the hell it is you think is good (which I actually haven't heard you say who is good). Prove us all wrong and show the world that DW knows all!

Until that day comes, all any of us can do is look at the players past, see how they can fit in what we're trying to do, root for the guys on our squad, and hope for the best.

He just gets tackled way too easily to be his size.

Even when he has full momentum... no balance.
Dude, this isn't Madden! Not sure if you're aware, but he is actually human, I'm not sure what you expect of him in that regard. He can actually be tackled by other big people.

But he did score 28 TD's last year. TWENTY EIGHT! I don't think anyone had more scores. You can only ask so much of a single guy... and Alabama asked a lot of him and they went on to win the National Title. I don't know what else you're looking for in a 2nd round RB, but you're not going to find more from anyone in the country at that spot.

Oh. You're one of those.

Yeah, I hate the team. I just enjoy torturing myself by being a fan...

orrrrrrrr... I care about the team, thus the reason I'm upset that it continues to be a dumpster fire while adding gasoline every chance possible.

I wish I could be you guys. I really do. YAY! WE DRAFTED GUYS! THEY'LL BE AMAZING CUZ TITANS! YAY!

TITANS R GR8! IT'S OFFSEASON WE WIN SUPER BOWL 4SURE THIS TIME!! YAY! TITANS! DRAFT WUZ GR8! NO BAD TRADES! NO BAD PICKS! JUS LIKE ALL THE OTHER YEARS! YAY NEW GM!

Must be nice.

@JR1980

Big back that went pick 90 overall with Excellent hands.

Jordan Howard went round 5

Paul Perkins round 5

See I honestly want every RB from last year gone. Would've been fine if we drafted two late and hope to hit instead of taking the more sure thing in Derrick Henry in the 2nd. We need so much at other positions. And that RB draft class next year looks sooo good.

I also feel that since we just got Murray we really didn't need to invest in another high level RB with a 2nd rounder at this time.

But Erotic Smash Mouth here we come!

The point is he got an extra 3 to 4 yards that almost no other back in the country could have ever gotten. If you want a scat back that jukes people out of their shoes, he ain't it. I completely agree with that, and that's fine. We're not asking him to be that. But when you see a Wisconsin LB go in to tackle him, and bounce of his thigh like nothing happened... that's scary to a defense.

Will he translate to the NFL? I have no clue. I sure as hell hope so. But if I did know then I'd probably be making a lot more money than I am now. When I look at him I see ways he could completely succeed. And I see flaws in his game that he could fail at. The real key for him is if he's willing to work hard enough to minimize those flaws, and will coaching bring out his best attributes? That's the key for any of the 253 guys drafted this year. All of them are big, fast and strong. The one's who succeed are the one's who work harder than the others, and their teams work harder as a whole, and they're put in a position to succeed.

But when I turn on his film, and when I saw him play in person, he's an absolute menace to other teams. You could see other teams wear out through the game and just get exhausted of tackling him. Yet he looked completely unfazed. He just kept going like he was completely fresh, despite carrying the rock 30+ times. That's stuff you can't coach and size that you can't find many places.

Yup. Exactly. Because I know this is the Titans and we'll find a way to complete screw everything up and this is the only time of year where I have hope.... Marcus could be the next Joe Montana and Derrick Henry could be the next Earl Campbell, but we'll get them both hurt or in systems that they suck in.

No but really I feel like that sometimes. So please try not to kill this time of the year for me too bad man. You can say "I told you so" all you want here in 4 months, but go easy on all the rest of us who don't feel like throwing in the towel before the fight starts.

And FYI, I still hate the Mularkey signing. I was livid the day they signed him. And still hate it. Robinson I liked, and still do so far, but honestly can't give a full report on him for a few years. But Amy can suck it for that BS farce of a hiring of Mularkey.

You call those guys specialists?
Hybrid safety-linebackers with good speed and coverage abilities?
Yeah. If you don't like "specialist" pick another name.
They're both a little light for a LBer, yet bigger than the average safety.

Especially considering those two were the best of the bunch in this year's draft, at that height, weight and skill set.

Yes... Sankey ran a 4.49... Henry ran a 4.54...

So.... as I said. He's slower than Sankey.

lmao @ "Know the facts"... while proving my point. Slick, homie.
Yet I had to tell them to you and you neglect my point of his hand clocked time? You're corny man and a chump at that
