Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

We’re now talking about two separate issues. 1) Underwhelming Rookie class 2) Titans are 8-3 and performing well without the rookies.
Point #2 is not relevant to whether or not the Rookie class is underwhelming. I celebrate point #2 but wonder how much better we might be with a contributing rookie class.

We could have another win or two if the rookies were not so bad. OL was an issue in every loss.

Injuries and immaturity have sidelined this rookie class....At least we won’t have to worry about any of them hitting the rookie wall during our run to and through the post season.

I still have some hope that Evans and Fulton can contribute some once healthy

...or we could have started Wilson and Fulton from day 1, had our ups and downs, and be 6-5.

Andrew Thomas was the 4 pick and has been pretty terrible, at least at times. Okudah was the surest thing in the draft and he has struggled, though I think he is starting to show a glimpse of what he can be. Etc, etc, etc.

Clowney and Beasley could not make our team....Clowney even healthy would not be our best player on D, good for depth thats it....how do you expect rookies to start and make our team loaded with talent? I

None of what you have said changes the fact that the rookie performance this year has been historically bad.

Either way, this years rookies have been terrible

I don't want to make a big deal about this because I don't think it matters long term, but from what I found, Fulton was limited in practice for about a week when were were about 3 weeks out from the start of the season. And he couldn't pass a 7th rounder on the depth chart through the first 7 weeks of the season.

I don't think he takes a spot from Borders when he comes back this year.

2013 and 2015 were MUCH MUCH worse years....

2020:

1. Wilson covid,
2. Fulton injury
3. Evans injury
5. Murchison solid rotational
7. Jackson toast
7. McDonald fed ex delivery guy

so A. you have to give alot more leeway due to the huge dent in the atmosphere, that of which is 2020.

and B. JROB's draft credentials end at round 5 anyway - so it's just as well we moved our 6th round pick to grab Desmond King.

Nate Davis was a bust??? Look at him in year 2. I really can't understand your thread title, it literally makes no sense. You can only have that title looking back in a couple years time. Read the title!

Yes, it's looking horrible. the only one I have any hope for is Fulton, and I'm not counting on it.

The positives at this point on this draft class are.. none.

God, looked at the history.. Almost every pick from last year was a massive hit, within their first season.. This year, the exact opposite. Luckily Borders is picking up the slack that Fulton left, and The rotation at Tackle has been serviceable to make up for Isaiah's lack of anything productive.

2013 may be worse. Warmack, Hunter, Wreh-Wilson, Schwenke, Wooten, and others.. but the team was bad enough at that point, that these scrubs had to get playing time. Schwenke was okay.

But as of right now, 2020 is looking nearly as bad. Too early to tell for certain.. but it's not looking promising.

I think Fulton and Evans will be contributors long term. Everyone else, I doubt it. BUT, as many have pointed out, this unusual year is and injuries give us incomplete data. Last year Nate Davis was horrendous and now he is settling in and contributing. Wilson May yet pan out. Murchison will probably have a decent career in a rotational role. I do hope next year brings us better pass rushers and a better kicker. But with the reduced cap, who’s to say what happens.

Just for reference players drafted 4 thru 7 only end up starting at most about 7% of games. No GM is very good in those rounds. I don’t understand why some of you keep attacking JRob over those late round picks.

You can’t ever judge a draft in the year of that draft, ever. At least if you are being honest you can’t. If you just want something to whine about then I guys you can.

Wilson was always drafted needing development. COVID a hurt him plus he showed lack of maturity. Next season will tell whether he is a bust or not.
Fulton and Evans got hurt. It happens. Sucks but it happens. Fulton showed some signs of being good. Once again give them time. The Titans have a great RB group.
This isn’t the worst group ever, we don’t know that yet.

I never said Nate Davis is a bust. This thread is about this years rookies. Where did you even get that from? Do you have psychosis?

And the title says "Rookie group" not "draft class." This is the second time I've explained that to you. If you still do not understand the difference then I cannot help you.

I think you never want to HAVE to play a rookie offensive lineman year one. Remember that Poutasi debacle?

This rookie class having the opportunity to sit and learn (after no offseason!) is a testament to the depth Jrob has built on this team.
No need to force Wilson in there (and risk Tanny) when Lewan, Kelley, Sambrailo and Queesenberry have all been playing at such a high level.

Fulton and Evans being injured hasn’t been an issue with Borders, King, McNichols and Foreman all playing so well.

the one thing I am PISSED about is drafting McDonald instead of Blankenship. That was a huge mistake.
