So yall must think aj mccarron is gonna be a great qb right i mean he went almost undefeated his whole career vs sec

I don't know if McCarron will be amazing but I will say that he was a better prospect thank Jake. I'm amazed with how much he's improved because in retrospect Jake was a pretty crappy QB prospect. He still has accuracy issues but he is much better at everything than he was back then and he'd be even better if he would have been able to stay on the field.

Lol mccarron a better prospect how the f do you figure

He's got a weaker arm and is less athletic but:

1.He's a lot more accurate (way better comp%)
2. More experience at a higher level of competition
3. Played his entire career in a pro style offense.
4. More experience in big time games/moments.
5. Better at making checks (Jake still struggles with this)
6. Shows better touch on the ball than Jake did at this point.
7. Thew less than half the Int's that Jake did in his career Jake (35) AJ (15).
8. He was also a more consistent player and blew Jake away in every conceivable passing category while again, playing at a higher level.

Now you tell me what makes 2011 Jake Locker a better prospect than both these guys.

You sayin if locker came out this year he woulda fell to the 4 5 6 rounds ?

Honestly? Yeah. We knew he was a project when we took him. I think the only reason he went as high as he did is because his class was really weak at the top. The guys who turned out to be good were taken much later than him and of the top QB's only Cam has been worth anything.

You sound so surprised but remember that Gabbert was taken a mere two picks later. Let's try it this way. If Jake came out this season say where you would take him and where you think a non Titans fan (analyst) would take him. There's currently a thread on here that asks "Can Whizenhunt turn Locker into a pocket passer" doesn't that tell you something? A lot of the guys taken this year are already pretty accomplished pocket passers.

I know you'll disagree so please tell me why you think he shouldn't?

Well the year before he was an assumed #1 pick so he'd be a definite first rounder

Yeah, I remember that too. I just don't get why now looking back on it. Maybe I'm missing something?

NVM, I just saw why.

Top 2 QB's taken in 2010 were Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow, Bradford was also coming back from injury that season if I remember correctly. Another weak QB draft class at the top. Man a lot of great players went in that 2010 class specially on defense.

He's a good qb and when he stays healthy this year and proves it imma bring this back up lol

Bringing this up would do no good. My point isn't Jake sucks now and will always suck, it's Jake was a pretty sh*tty NCAA prospect and I'm not sure how he went as highly as he did. He's made significant improvements I'm just not sure if it's enough. I know how this thread looks but trust I don't hate Jake, he's a great guy and I really want him to do well.

He was a great prospect not great college production but great potential

Exactly and I think that is what Urban is alluding to. Everyone loves Jake for what he can be not what he is or has been. We all hope he puts it together and becomes a franchise QB. Some are just more skeptical of that happening than others and people like to attack the ones that aren't completely bought into his future success. I think all the doubters have plenty of reasons to be worried about whether or not he will ever become that guy. It isn't like we want him to fail, we would all welcome him blowing up.

To me you can't be a good prospect if you had ample opportunities to produce but didn't. His athleticism and leadership is what people fell in love with, we hoped he would develop as a passer.

If Jake kills it next year I'm naming my daughter Jake and I'm not playing...maybe a little. He's got all the intangibles and I wish the best for him.
