Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

My problem is it isn’t that he was missing a bunch of throws. The play calling was trash. It was like AS kept waiting on Henry to take over and it didn’t happen and he didn’t know what to do.

Tannehill made good throws today. They didn’t even try and stretch the field today. They played that conservative duck and dunk crap. I don’t think it’s Thill. I think it’s Smith being conservative.

I'm starting to wonder if the conservatism on offense isn't also a little Vrabel as well. Even under LaFluer (who was supposed to open the offense as well), the Titans led the league in runs on first down.

Sadly, if the Titans had kept the playcalling wide open on offense, they might have won this one.

Arthur smith is a complete joke

They went up 10 and got very conservative. It almost worked. Not going up 17 was the killer. Had they scored on that drive I think it might have been over.

This offense needs a real burner. Like Will Fuller. If we let CD walk and go get a guy like that I will be ok with it. Davis and Brown are kinda they same type WR.

Guys we did not lose today, we won in a landslide. Don’t believe the lame stream media. We will fight for the truth and these results WILL NOT be certified. We played a fine game, a great game, best game of all time some have said. But we won! And we will play next week! We have a giant squid!

Punting on 4th and 2 was shocking, especially from Vrabel. I'm also surprised we didn't go for 4th and goal from 5 but I agreed with that call.

The thing that upsets me most is the fact that they were winning 10-0 then just stopped. This offense has always been built around Henry but they were moving the ball well without him doing his thing, got the lead and quit. I kept hoping they’d go no huddle or something to try to move down the field but they just rolled over!

This.

Team quit once they went up by 10. Pathetic showing today.

Having no Humphries hurt today...we have no one worth a dang as a 3rd WR. Davis is gone...he just is not consistently reliable and I was really hoping he had turned the corner this year. We never challenged the middle of the field. I was also surprised that they did not run the play action run with Tannehill more often...especially on the short yardage downs.

Vrabel is a very good HC. I think we need a DC. May need an OC. But I’m not even remotely close to thinking we fire the HC and GM. That’s actually insane. We would be a worse laughing stock than Houston is and bth Vrabel and Robinson would have jobs in 24 hours. GMs miss on picks dude. It happens. Actually more often than not. This was a weird season. You really need to relax.

What makes him a good HC? His arrogance to not hire a true DC? Or his roster management skills which led to us not bringing in a legit pass rush specialist?

I guess it's this first round exit that really makes him a great head coach. My bad.

Yeah. Bit suprised. Just didn't feel ANYBODY really wanted to win this game. Who knows- maybe it was idea of having to most likely go to KC. Just didn't see real fire all around, the way we did in last year's playoffs.

You're just sore. Vrabel is a decent HC. I like what he brings. Usually. But I admit that today, just didn't seem anybody from Titans really wanted to go get this game. A lot of baffling decisions. Corey Davis? 4th and 2 punt? running into 8 and 9 (NINE damnit) man boxes and not checking out of that. Failing to contain Lamar Jackson when it counted. Field goal choice instead of going for it.

Yeah, I'm not sure. It was definitely different. Just lacked the typical aggression.

Vrabel deserves to be second-guessed today but I think the FG was the right decision.

95% of the time, Kern knocks that punt inside the 5. I thought Vrabel should have tried the hard count there tho.

And for all those blaming Smith for running Henry so much on first down, Vrabel hears every call and has every opportunity to change it. I personally would like to know how many plays Tanny changed on first down at the line.

Has Vrabel ever fired a member of his coaching staff?

Regardless, he will have to this offseason.

Vrabel is going to have to make decisions he will not like regarding his coaching staff. Priority #1 for him is bringing in a new DC (and not some in house loser like Bowen).

Running on first down was something that was done a lot when LaFluer was OC as well. Maybe people so quick to blame Arthur Smith for it might have to accept it looks like it could be a Vrabel thing.

I think Smith deserves more blame than Tannehill. He hardly had any opportunity to get in rhythm, only got to throw on third and long it seemed. O-line gave him no protection.

Our only success moving the ball was spread out shotgun formations in first Q. Not enough play action, not enough passing on first down. We were too conservative both sides off the ball. The punt at the end though, jeez, criminal.

Shame nothing from Corey / Jonnu etc. Once Henry and Brown were neutralised we seemed flat. Sod’s law the one time we throw it deep in second half Raymond falls over... not a good day at the office all round.
