Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

I mean, that would be fine with me. But the reality is there are very few really good QBs in the league, much less ones the Titans can get. So we have Tannehill who isn't complete garbage like emotional Titans fans seem to think. I'd say he's middle of the pack and that's what his salary is also.

If Tannehill wouldn't have made that last bonehead throw and drove down for a FG, this thread wouldn't have been made and no one would be talking about how bad Tanny is. So it's really 1 play difference from hero to zero. Lol

Tannejill would not have been the hero of that game if we won lol we would have won despite his poor play. The hero would have been the defensive line.

Obviously... But no one would be calling for his head and dreaming of bringing in freaking Mitchell TRUBISKY. Point stands, it's 1 throw that caused all of this emotion and speculation in the media. All would have been forgiven with a win.

Where have you been all year? Lol living under a rock? This is not just about this one game.

The Tanny hate train was nowhere near this before that game. And the media certainly wasn't circling the wagons on a QB of a 12-5 team with the #1 seed in the playoffs.

The way everyone is going on right now you'd think Tanny was one of the worst QBs in the league. (Both fans and media)

No that is just how you are interpreting it. Haven’t seen anyone say he’s one of the worst QB’s in the league (fans or media).

I've been on the Tanny hate train for awhile. Lewan too. If Byard didn't turn it around like he did he'd be on my shitlist still. If the team paid you big money I expect you to ball out. Not throw 3 ints and cost us a playoff game etc etc

Well, you're not getting the hyperbole... But yeah, I'm done with the back and forth.

I think we have both made our points.

Again, I've mainly been speaking in general terms about all of this. Wasn't singling you out.

BTW, I've been critical of Tannehill this season too. After those first couple of games where it seemed like he got sacked 27 times, he's looked shakey since. I give him the first few games of the season as a lot of teams look rough out of the gate...

All in all, he has 28TDs with 14 INTs and was involved in winning 12 games. Wasn't pretty but it happened. Just so happens he sucked it up at the wrong time. All we can do is hope for a better outcome next season. That's my opinion.

It’s just ironic that you are saying people are being emotional and overreacting but you are too by saying people are acting like he’s one of the worst in the league, etc.

This is better than the 2-14 seasons and such. Being good in the regular season is cool and all but we won as many playoff games the last 2 years as we did in that 2-14 season.

We have hitched our wagon to Ryan. I will continue to hope like hell that we catch that lightning in a bottle and everything falls our way. Because we are going to need it.

I believe in Vrabel and JRob though. I think they can get it done eventually. I just don’t think it will be with 17 at QB.

Dude just stop. Tannehill is a ford focus, Allen is a Lambo.
Playoff stats then.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if anything ever comes of it. So far, both have an AFCCG loss and both have a divisional loss. THill also has a WC loss.

To be clear (it was a few pages back) I’m not saying THill is better than Allen or even remotely in the “elite” category.
I’m stating Allen is not “elite”.

Odd timing to post this seeing the show Josh Allen put on today.
The timing of the conversation is because of the game (and the rest of the divisional games), it didn’t start until the game was almost over.

My point is that people may (not all by a long shot) take a monster game like today and put him in a category that I don’t think he belongs in.
For example we can side by side his game this year vs last year in the post season against KC

20: 28/48 287 2/1, 88 rush yds and sacked 4x
21: 21/25 305 5/0, 66 rush yards.

Huge improvement, I’d have to look into the KC Defense differences but does today’s game make him elite if someone thought he wasn’t before hand?

I don’t think it does, but that’s me and I’ve also explained I think elite gets overused all the time.

Edit: this was written before today but points out some of the best individual playoff performances for QBs in the QBR era. Some are not even considered good QBs, so I’m just not sold because of 1 game performance.

Ranking top 10 QB playoff performances of QBR era: Nick Foles cracks top five

KC Defense this year.
8 in points allowed
27 in yards allowed
27 yards in passing yards allowed
24 in FD allowed
31 in rushing YPA but 6 in att

Bills this year
1 in PPG allowed
1 in yards allowed
1 in passing yards allowed
1 in FD allowed

If anything, todays game proved that Mahomes belongs in the elite conversation.

Yeah, I see a lot of “go get Wilson” posts… with out an explanation of how they’d actually acquire him.

I feel like logically you just have to hope he improves. Rodgers isn’t coming in and signing an extremely cheap contact. Trading for Wilson would take more than draft picks. They’d want proven talent.

I’d like to see Tannehill with an actual offensive coordinator with a strategy other than hand it to he dry, play action to brown across the middle, or screen to the wr if AJ needs a breather and we want to throw. It’s literally a three - four play system. (Don’t get me wrong, love the handing to Henry).

Im not going to pretend finding a good OC will be easy either, but you have to try someone else. Henry can’t last with the amount of carries he was going to have, and just have to find some creative passing plays (although why we don’t go deep with AJ more blows my mind).

Long story short, everyone wants the shiny new toy but doesn’t want to provide a realistic way to get said shiny toy. I’d rather keep our team in tact (meaning not trading proven talent for Wilson) if we can get a new OC and just see what the offense can do. Im sure I’ll be in the minority here but I feel it’s the most realistic option, because I just don’t see a way to go get Wilson/Rodgers etc.

You're in the minority because most here are acting like the NFL is Madden on Xbox and you can just dump and pick up QBs at will.

The only option IS Tannehill.

Plus, I don't think Wilson or Rodgers or Brady or any other pipe dream QB will be playing for another team next year. And I KNOW they won't be playing in TN.

RT,s playoff performance in the biggest games have shown that he can't get it done. Home playoff game, throwing the ball late, not checking out of certain plays is reason enough to be benched. Stop looking at regular season body of work!
