the only reason Tannehills cap hit is so high this yr is that we did restructure it last yr in order to be able to sign Julio. We signed Dupree to a big contract last yr and brought Landry back this yr on a big contract….we have Brown and Simmons to sign to huge deals in the next 2 yrs…I’d rather keep those 2 than throw big money at a random FA….and I’m pretty sure our gm knows that he can create 30mil in cap space if he needs it by simply restructuring contracts….got to have some cap room to navigate through the season

Ryan Tannehill

has the highest cap hit

of all qbs in the entire league

excuse that if you want, but something is very very very very very wrong about that picture.

It's the consequences of restructuring a deal. People need to realize this. They often act like restructuring makes a problem go away, it doesn't. It just kicks the can down the road, making it worse in a future year.

Basically, it's like they are taking a loan out against a future cap year.

Exactly why they chose not to restructure again this year. They are washing their hands of him unless he takes us to at least the AFC Champ Game.

You do realize that the reason this is "very very very very very wrong" is due for the exact same thing you're saying you want the Titans to do and someone should get fired for?

You can't have it both ways. You can't manipulate the cap without dealing with some consequences.

Exactly!

If you want the team to manipulate the cap and make big signings then this is what happens. Can't have it both ways.

The Rams do!

The Rams do!
The Rams do what?

People keep saying this like its magic trick. Who have the Rams paid? They've traded a lot for players but who are they really breaking the bank for?

Stafford, Donald, and Ramsey. Allen Robinson, maybe? Paying ARob and Kuup $15m per year is actually a bargain! They're not the big spenders people on here perceive.

We on the other hand, made Lewan and Byard the highest paid players. Did we make Kern the highest paid P? We paid DHenry, Tannehill, and Ben Jones twice. We also spent big money on Saffold and Dupree. Our problem is that outside of 2019, we're not getting enough production from our draft classes. Therefore, we have to spend more money on middle of the pack free agents to plug in.

That doesnt make sense because teams are manipulating the caps constantly but not one other single team in the entire NFL can say..

we have the highest cap hit

on a qb

in the entire league

only the Titans can say that.

So explain to me how 31 other teams cannot say it, even though there are teams who manipulate the cap every single season.

ok, then if that is what happens

give me an example of a team that has the highest qb hit in the NFL with a qb like Ryan Tannehill....

I wont hold my breath, because only Tennessee has that problem.

Subjective.
There are teams with worse QBs than THill, there are teams with better cap situations too.
I suppose teams that have a cheaper “mariota” for example, aren’t pissed because they spent a lot of money on him but they certainly won’t be competitive either.

as I posted earlier, it seems like we have people willing to spend woodside money on QB but forget you’re going to get woodside play.
The argument in that part is how “overpaid” is THill?
how overpaid are QBs in general?
How come none of these complaints came out about THill until after he got the contract? I don’t mean the money either, most of the board here was not just content with the extension but pleased to keep him because of his first 2 years of play in Tennessee.

most of this entire argument is based on the fickleness of 2 playoff games.
