It is not a tired old position on running backs. It is not something we just heard in ESPN. It is a widely held belief throughout the NFL and by analytics. That opinion is everywhere and dominant in the league. It also has been born out by more examples then it has not been over the last decade—by a wide margin.
Same is true with QBs, then. We replaced a franchise QB with a cheap backup and got better. Chiefs replaced a franchise QB with a rookie, Eagles won the SB with a backup. And, on and on. QBs are more expensive. We should let Tanny walk and just role with a rookie or cheap backup.

Except 5 of the top 7 paid QBs are in the playoffs. The other 2 are big ben who is hurt and matt ryan who was in the super bowl 2 years ago.
None of the top 6 paid RBs are in the playoffs.
QBs matter far more for team success and it makes far more sense to invest at that position.

Wasn't Gurley in the Superbowl last year?

Not cause of their own efforts thats for sure

You really about to walk down "why do the Cowboys suck" road?
I just dont understand how you can say RBs drive the best offenses in the league when that information exists. The highest paid RBs are not on good teams.

forget about money, the best run teams make the POs
The highest paid RB that is actually playing in the playoffs is Duke Johnson at 5.2M and hes 10th in the league.
It matters what they are paid bc production tends to drop after a payday. Which is why the best run teams use committees and dont pay anyone over 4M.
