I'm surprised we haven't looked at Darqueze Dennard. He has been a consistently high quality slot CB for several years now. PFF has this to say:

Dennard isn't a free agent who'll be signed early for a lot of money, but rather one that would be a great addition for low cost after everything plays out. He's devoted his time to the slot and has thrived in that role. Over the last three years, Dennard owns the 12th best slot coverage grade among 42 qualifying cornerbacks and has had two of those three seasons end with a top-30 finish among all cornerbacks in PFF WAR. On targets of 10-plus yards from the slot in that timespan, Dennard has allowed the lowest catch rate in the NFL.

He would be cheaper and younger than Logan and would immediately be able to start.

i really think we know that we need to increase our speed at CB/NB...Ryan was great at blitzing/run support/zone coverages, but a huge liability in man against speed guys

Dennard is in the same mold as Ryan

But depending on how the draft goes he could be a guy we look at after the draft

We dont want just a slot CB, we want a guy who can do more
He's a former 1st round pick, would only cost around $4 million a year and has played well on the outside as well. If we don't take a CB in round 1 or 2, I would not be surprised at all if a guy like Darqueze is in the plans post draft.

Disagree. Ryan is a 4.6 40 guy, Dennard is a 4.4 guy. Dennard has played significantly better in a vertical roll from the slot than Ryan who is entirely a horizontal guy. Dennard has the best defensive grade in the NFL against downfield throws to the slot receiver which is EXACTLY what we are looking for. Just sayin'.

I think he would be a good signing, he would be cheaper than Ryan but only 8 months younger so that's not a big difference there.

technically Denard ran a 4.51 at the combine and Ryan ran a 4.56 ....so neither are a low 4.4 type to try and hang with the true speedsters.

Certainly like Dennard's stats on downfield throws and I won't be upset if we pick him up...he hasn't made near the impact plays that Ryan has though...only 3 career sacks and 3 career ints....Ryan has 8 sacks in the last 2 years and 17 INTs for his career.

Of course sacks from your CB are totally scheme dependent

Do you mean a guy who can play insode and out? Or do you mean a guy like ryan who was a swiss army knife from the slot?
Vrabel spoke on this, and hes looking for just a guy with wheels who can do multiple things. Whether its inside/outside corner work or possibly a CB with size who can double as a Saftey (like Hooker).

The biggest thing is we need to get faster on D.

That means an infusion of youth. We did have a lot of old players on the roster this past season

The biggest surprise was NE not taking a QB in the draft. Instead signing 2 after.
Passed on Love, Hurts, Eason and Fromm.
They must like Stidham and feel Hoyer can be serviceable until he's ready.

Maybe they sign Cam Newton?

No way Cam is playing for BB. Just not the type of QB he would ever want.

SOURCES: The Seattle #Seahawks are prepared to release center Justin Britt. The move will save Seattle about $8.5 million in cap space. Guard DJ Fluker just announced that he has been released, via Twitter. That move saves about $3.6 million.
