The nice thing about restructuring to longer deals for our key guys is that you back load them to free up space now and make the dead cap hits go down on the back end so you can cut them if need be. Salary cap should be much higher in 3 years, so it would be a smart move to make some breathing room now.I'd throw the contract out there now while he's coming off a down season (hopefully not his norm). but wouldn't a 3 year $30 mil be the same thing as this year?
If they sign him to a 4 year deal or so, I'd hope they can get under the $9-10 mil a year mark.
I think he showed enough promise prior to this year to keep him around, just not at that price.
If we could get two first round pick for him....it would be bye bye daddy
There is no way Lewan brings 2 1sts.
Did you look at the cap implications of any of these moves? This is probably the 5th time I've pointed out that Hump isnt going anywhere. Look at his contract.Cuts:
Vacarro
Hump
Butler
keep:
Adoree(youth)
let walk:
Hammy Davis
Jonnu depending on price
Signing adoree to a longer term deal to free up space this year would make sense.

Good points—I am sure they will restructure as many as they can.

So we just wait for BOB to get a new gig and make the offer...I won’t hold my breath

BOB is going to be the OC at Bama.
Yeah, me too. No one at all is looking at the cap hits.Did you look at the cap implications of any of these moves? This is probably the 5th time I've pointed out that Hump isnt going anywhere. Look at his contract.

Also, notice how many sports writers (can’t call them reporters) clearly pay no attention either.Did you look at the cap implications of any of these moves? This is probably the 5th time I've pointed out that Hump isnt going anywhere. Look at his contract.

Before 6/1, releasing Hump saves only $4.75M. After 6/1, it’s $7.25M.
How do you get that?
I see the 4.75m (9.75m salary and 5m dead cap hit), but where do you see that jumping to 7.25m after June 1? Genuinely interested, I must be missing something.

EDIT: that is what OTC shows and I havent seen that until now.... Hump may very well be a goner after June 1
Not saying we cut these guys, but they should all be approached about restructures and some considered as cuts.
Butler 2m dead, 12.2m saved
Saffold 2.4m dead, 10m saved
Hump 2.5m dead, 7.25m saved
Vacarro 1.5m dead, 5.4m saved
Byard 3.3m dead, 11.7m saved
Adoree 0 dead, 10m saved
And I count 27 dudes on the 53 with 500k-920k savings with 0 dead cap.

Completely off topic but as a resident moolah gambling degenerate, any chance the last 7 games will be in the sportsbook?
I know I keep throwing away my moolah (and you guys just keep on giving me house credit) but I had some before the great reset.

He is a huge restructure target for sure.Taylor Lewan?

Hump can go, adoree and vaccaro probably too.
Rest i think stay. Some of these really put into perspective how great Henry's deal is.
I think with Adoree it depends on his health. Clearly he was never 100% this year. I think we made that mistake with Conklin and let him go just as he was getting all the way back. Adoree is not a big int guy, but he is adept at breaking up passes - when 100%. They may decide he just flat gets hurt too much. He has more gray areas than the others to me.Hump can go, adoree and vaccaro probably too.

Adoree Jackson isn't going anywhere. He missed most of the season with a nagging injury and didn't play great when he came back (not terribly either mind you). Can't give up on a 25 year old corner for that, especially when he's shown real promise, and the D is a dumpster fire as is.
Butler likely cut if not willing to restructure (I'm hopeful he will)
Humph cut/maybe retiring?
Vaccaro I think is gone.
Saff stays, he was our best olinemen even when lewan was on the field.
Byard is interesting, I see a 0% chance he gets cut, but I honestly believe he was one of the weakest links on defense all year. He was constantly out of position, missed tons of tackles, made little to no impact plays, looked really disinterested most of the time. But I think they give him a shot to bounce back.
Would be great if lewan would restructure since he only plays half the time anyway
