There's rumors that Xbox is going to make Xbox live free, gamepass will still be a thing. I guess you can't buy a 12 month script for live anymore. We will find out later this year, they have another show planned.
I know the way it works now, if you have ultimate gamepass it includes xbox live. If they assume most people will get gamepass going forward (and why wouldnt you after this new console launch?) then it would make sense to make the basic live subscription free.

Im interested to see how this turns out. The rumored specs are the equivalent to a $300 processor, $400-500 graphics card, $100+ hard drive, thats over $800 not including any other components. I understand they'll take a loss and plan to make it up on gamepass and other subscriptions, but to sell for less than half price of cost seems like a stretch.

You’re paying those prices for those items, you think that’s the price Microsoft is getting it for??

They'll get better pricing by working directly with the manufacturer, but wholesale pc components arent like clothes and other goods you can buy for pennys on the dollar. At most theyre getting about 30% off.

I've built a couple pc's in the last year with similar specs to what they're offering, and they cost over $1000 to build. So I'm just really interested to see how much they ultimately charge and also how they plan on keeping that powerful of a system running cool in such a small enclosure. Sure it can be done, but to do it at the rumored prices would be amazing and slightly unbelievable.

Cooling isn't really Microsoft's strong point...

But in all seriousness, no one can roll out a console that costs more than $500. Can't do it. The $599 price point for the PS3 killed all the momentum of the PS2. It took the entire generation for Sony to recover.

Exact reasons why im so sceptical, but if they pull it off, it'll be a great deal for buyers. I went through a couple warranty claims on those RROD 360s, so im all too familiar with their fails. But I did make a nice chunk of change fixing them for other people, so not all bad.

I believe that's why Xbox went with the shape it did, the top is one big fan. You would think they learned with the 360 for going with style over function. I read articles awhile back that the Devs were getting overheating issues with the PS5 leading to hardware issues. But that was awhile ago so they might of ironed out those issues.

I've been playing the new Battletoads. I beat the lowest difficulty level with my 5 year old yesterday, then finished the medium difficulty level solo when he went to bed; currently working on the highest difficulty level.

Anyways, I think it's fantastic. Reviews are all over the place, but game reviewers tend to suck at video games, so I can imagine why. My only gripes are:
- Yes, I know the NES/Genesis games only had like two beat 'em up levels and the rest was random stuff and some boss fights. I also know that most people DON'T know this because most people never got past the turbo bikes. So, it's an odd choice to lean into that concept in the new game, since most people just assume BT was a beat 'em up. Also, the beat 'em up gameplay in the new game is fantastic, so it's a shame there's so little of it.

- No online co-op is idiotic.

- Act 3(of 4) was kind of a wash for me. Mixing up genres is fine, but giving me 3 levels of one type of stage and 3 levels of another type isn't all that great.

Aside from that, I think the game is fantastic.
