I don't know why we let Ryan and Casey go.
They were the glue that held together a not so good defense.

Lol Ryan got burned constantly last year. Casey was an expensive block eater.

The issue is we have slow DB’s and Byard has been non existent this year. Vaccaro has surpassed him as our best safety. When’s the las time Byard made a play?

The poor play of Brown and Evans has stood out for me this year.

Byard punched a ball out in week 1 or 2 for a simmons turnover.

Hes had a quiet year sure, but still shows up

Totally agree with you.

With the way Evans played towards the end of the season, I thought he was going to BEAST out for us this year.

As for Brown, who? He has yet to make a play this year, other than when a RB or TE drops a pass.

Exactly my point. He’s not breaking up passes. Tackling guys in the backfield. You gotta go all the way back to the first game to find a play. He’s not been very good this year.

Evans has been ok. Jayon has taken a step back. But I think a lot of that is how we are playing. Trying to force everything inside because we are playing a ton of zone and you want as many bodies in as many windows as possible. Kinda exposing your LB’s when you do that.

Everyone is hammering the defense today, but in reality, the main reason why this was a nail biter was the two turnovers...one strip sack to give Houston 1st and goal at the 5 (!!!) and the second was an INT that was overthrown. And then special teams surrendered a blocked field goal which should have been a gimme and Gostowski then follows that with a blown FG he should have had. Clean that stuff up and this isn't that close.

This x100. I read an article that said the Titans after the Chiefs AFC Championship lost felt Ryan was too slow up the seam to stay with some of the route concepts they expected to see moving forward out of the slot position. They acknowledge he was good flowing left to right on the field but not up the field. That being said, we should have resigned him until you are sure you have a good replacement.

I’m not mad at the team trying to change though too many teams become good and then stand still. At this point we basically failed to get better (as oddly as that sound considering we are undefeated). My point in saying that is that we are basically getting 0 contribution from our 2020 draft class. It sucks to say that, but at this point that entire class may be a whiff and a miss.

Also at this point in time a lot of defenses are playing bad this year. It is because of Covid unfortunately defenses are hurt more by it than Offenses because offenses still managed to get together due to QBs led those gatherings. Couple that with holding and false starts being called at a league low and you have this explosion of offense. Read another article on that I thought it was interesting.

You gotta remember these rookies are so far behind because of the limited offseason. Can’t make rash judgements like that yet.

Bill Belichick said this is the farthest behind his rookies have ever been since he’s been a coach.

Maybe not, but it gets better than it is without him.

That has not been proven true yet.

We all thought Lewan coming back off suspension was going to fix the O line last year and that didn’t happen either. It wasn’t until a QB change and weeks later that the O line started to get going.

You ain’t been watching Joesph if you think that.
