^yeah, wasn't expecting much from that one. Seems like the type that all the funny moments are shown in the previews, and the ones in the previews aren't that great.

I think maybe Cloverfield could have been better with more info....maybe The Mist could have too. Both decent movies either way to me. I liked seeing some "monster" movies since I haven't seen any in a long while.

The dirceting, acting, screen work, effects, and CGI in cloverfield were all golden, but it came down to the storyline and the background info, and niether was solid. Killed the movie in my book. As much as I loved the rollercoaster that was called Cloverfield, It just wasn't there for me.
I actually liked the mist, a lot.
Ironman has been the best movie I've seen this Spring/Summer...

to me it was obvious JJ Abrams "half-assed" this movie (or at least the part of a film that takes thought), he would of been better off showing Rick Roll on the screen for 2 hours, then for a twist ending he could show up on the screen and say "Gotcha"...
Cloverfield was basically a lame love story. Had they told us that in the previews, I guarantee it wouldn't have made much noise at the box office.
30 Days of Night was aight. Little different version of a vampire tale. Very gory, which is fine by me. Story was a little weak as was some of the acting. 6.5 out of 10.

Just watched Spanish zombie/virus film [Rec]. Even though it carried a lot of horror cliches, I really enjoyed it. The twist on the virus is also very cool IMO. If you want a camcorder horror flim that DOESNT reek of mediocrity (*cough* Blair Witch, Diary Of The Dead), check this out. Hollywood is re-making this under the name Quarantine, but it doesn't look nearly as good (surprise surprise).

Kami, is that actually scary? That clip makes it look like it is....or they just panned in on the poontangs in the crowd. It just seems rare to see anything really scary anymore.
I don't think it was THAT scary, but it's one of those rare modern horror films that is pretty frightening. And it's just plain fun to watch, and with not a ton of cliches.

I actually don't critique movies at all, but I'd at least like it to make some sort of sense.
So what is there to make sense of with Cloverfield?
The filmmakers wanted to try something a little different and have the viewers share the same experience as the characters in the flick.. They don't know and you don't know.. They die never knowing - and when their story is done so is yours.
It's ridiculous to say then that the movie has plot holes etc. They don't give you that info and it's obviously messing with your head. Job done..
