Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

His pride might prevent him coming back, but he was given a choice.
Among the coaches Munchak was told had to be replaced were offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, offensive line coach Bruce Matthews and linebackers coach Chet Parlavecchio.
I understand loyalty but wonder if his fallen friends told him to just keep playing and not quit because of them
I think his terrible record was the clincher.

It was widely reported his refusal to fire “ his friends “ was the reason for his firing

People in this forum always taking about “ nepotism”. But you want to go get Munchak out of mothballs.
considered by the "experts" to be one of the best o-line coaches ever... you know those experts you always talk about? they really like him as o-line coach, I do also, wonder if that makes me one of the experts.

Best O Line Coaches ever? Pretty strong statement. Care to provide proof? I’m not doubting it but are you saying he is thought of that way currently? Or in his prime? Like when he was with a team with crazy good OLine talent? Like the Titans for 13 years. Or the Steelers ? Great OLine talent. Munchak looks like a genius. Bad… he gets fired.

So why did Denver fire him? Bad OLine talent. It’s just that simple. It’s all about personnel.

No you aren’t an expert.

If it’s all about personnel there is no reason to not fire our coaching staff. We can just get coaches off the street as long as we draft and trade for superior talent. Right?

Do you see the flaw in your own argument?

That team with crazy good OL talent was largely made up of mid rounders. Either he was good at helping to scout talent or he was good at developing the talent given to him (or both).

You don’t have to be 1st round picks to be good talent. That’s my freaking point. It’s about the GM getting the right players. But you can’t coach up trash. Plus the league has changed. They don’t have as much time to coach anymore. The CBA restricts contact time.

No I don’t. You are finding a flaw that isn’t there. Of course a bad coach can hurt you. Vrabel isn’t a bad coach. He has already proven that. No one outside of a few of y’all think that because he can’t coach up a collection of trash into the SB.

By the way …. How is the GOAT HC doing in FOXBORO ? Did Bill forget how to coach? Has he lost the locker room ? 27-33 since Brady left. 2-8 this year. No QB. Bill is the GM also. Was it Tom or Bill or a combo ?

We have a good HC. We just need talent. The rest will fix itself.

You think he'd want to come back after the manner his tenure ended as Head Coach? He was given the ultimatum to fire his staff or get out of dodge. He was shown the door with a boot to the ass when he refused.
openly hired all his buddies on the staff... made some rando HS coach Titan LB coach IIRC... was embarassing

and I am 100% sure every team 100% respects all aspects of that.. all the time

How can you tell if a coach is bad, if bad performance can always be blamed on the players?

And Belichicks problems is a combination of not being a very good GM and not being a super genius coach, that media crowned him when he had Brady.
Belichick also seems to have a problem adjusting to the new generation of players.

Our coach now blows donky cocks and should be shown the door. That's just me tho

I'm tired of this old fans always wanting to go to an ex player or coach is so embarrassing.

You're right they should hire D'Brickashaw Ferguson to be OLine coach, I'm not sure if he is qualified or even interested in coaching, but he isn't a former Titan, so must be good enough.

Belichick has been the HC/GM the entire time. So he was bad before?

How can I tell ? Vrabel has never had a great roster top to bottom and got them to an AFC Championship, with an average QB. Henry played a huge part but when Tannehill dropped off and years of blown drafts and bad trades decimated the roster.

Vrabel is a good HC. Give him talent he can win. Same with Belichick. But it starts with a good QB. The OLine is a huge ingredient.

This team became to dependent on Derrick Henry. It’s time to move on.
