However it happens (Tanny injury, special package or giving him a start late in the season), I hope we get to see him play some real football this season and he shows flashes of what he’s capable of doing.

JRob has some tough QB decisions to make after this season.

I know every player is always pumped to get drafted, but Malik has already posted like 9 times on his Instagram about being a titan lol. Like him in titans uni photoshops and everything, he is pumped to be here

I really think this kid could be something special.

So often, talents like him come with a huge ego, laziness, or stupidity. He seems like the kind of kid who wants it bad. I'm excited to see what he becomes.

I'm excited for his play maker abilities, like Russell Wilson, that's what got me pumped about him. I'm tired of watching Titans qbs just stand in the pocket and eat sacks. Plus he's gonna be wearing my favorite number #7.

Both young and locker didn’t sit for more than a few games. I’m not sure if we suck at developing new QB’s or do we suck at drafting good ones?
i pray that we don't have another 1st round high money QB with a lot of talent that still can't hit a 15 yard pass. Fingers crossed this kid has to be better than VY and VY 2.0 (locker)

The fact that he’s a late 3rd rounder for us should take the sting out a little. Low risk, high reward.

Uhhh...Willis took 51 sacks his senior year of college.

The OL at Liberty was hot garbage though. I'm more talking about when Tanny goes through his reads and there's no WR's open he doesn't try to scramble or roll out of the pocket, even though he has the wheels for it and he takes a sack. I'm talking more about the QB not the OL play, if your line sucks your going to take some sacks.

And it’s a perfect situation for him too. Usually a QB is drafted to a crappy team and gets thrown into the fire right away.

He’s going to a playoff team and can sit, learn and be cultivated until he’s ready. Hopefully he’ll workout. What a score if we land our QB of the future in the middle of the third round!

Hasn’t taken 1 NFL sack yet and already has apologists for it when it happens.

I hope the guy can snap the ball, throw from the pocket, and occasionally run when nothing is open. Key is clean handoffs to Henry.

Don’t turn the ball over.

In his game tape, I don't think his line blocks even decent on one single play. They are terrible, might be the worst in football lol

While this is true, even on the highlights, there are numerous plays where there is obviously a free rusher coming, and willis doesn't check protection or anything. I mean, it was so obvious I could tell it was coming.

He has a LOT to learn, and a lot of bad habits to unlearn.

Are you suggesting people calling out his horrible oline, is an indication of an excuse for him? If so, this is a terrible take on evaluations of Willis. A lot of people have been on this forum for a long time and you should really pay attention to whose saying what. These are no excuses for Willis, but a statement of fact. His oline was absolutely garbage his while career at liberty, that's a fact. 100% no argument. He still managed to be rated as a first round pick (from garbage analysis) and we got him in the third. No matter where you stand, this is a steal and a half (especially with our teams issues/tanny).

A) I’m suggesting titans fans are already using his college team as a defense to take 51 sacks in a shorter season than the NFL. Me notable difference among how garbage his OL was, is the competition was also not NFL worthy. I hope he knows how to not take sacks, throw the ball away, and most importantly from what I’ve watched on his highlight films in this thread, is he learns to avoid the hits when running. Go ahead and slide, it’s ok.

B) no matter what you or anyone else ranked him before the draft, he’s not a steal until he does something in the NFL, that’s a fact, 100% no argument.

i'd rather see him standing on the sidelines or on the bench next to Tanne all season, learning

we haven't been able to draft a QB and let them sit and learn since.. fuck if i know.. we just send them to the wolves immediately and 2 couldn't handle it, the other just sucked (VY mentally, Locker physically, Mariota mechanically)

The best analogy I have for Willis is he is like taking a smart High school graduate and skipping college and going straight to med school. It would not be realistic to expect such a student to immediately be a success. The learning curve would be too great. If you watch complete games of Willis, there is as much wrong as there is right. The learning curve is enormous. He may be great one day or he may never make it. One of the most boom or bust guys we have ever drafted. Thankfully it was with a late 3rd.

This team made a huge mistake with the McNair/Young thing...I think we would have seen a different Young if he sat behind McNair and learned

I am not in favor of throwing him into the deep end but I do think he needs to show something at some point late in the season.

Your options going into ‘23:
1. Keep Tanny (assuming he plays lights out this season).
2. Bring in a cheaper vet good enough to start and keep developing Willis until he’s ready.
3. Make the move to Willis at #1 and bring in a cheaper vet as a backup.

IMO, #3 is the best scenario if Tanny continues to decline but I don’t see it happening if Willis doesn’t play at all in ‘22. I do think they can get him some work towards the end of the season, designed to his strengths, that helps his development and gives the front office insight as to whether he’s close to being able to be the man in ‘23.

I’m not a believer this can be decided based only on practice and film study.
