Titans Talk - Home for all things Tennessee Titans

Vrabel was a good coach with some serious flaws. You can’t, rationally, look at the 2021 season and say Vrabel sucked as a coach. He got more out of a bad roster than he should have. But, he was too stubborn to get better. Just getting rid of Kelly is prize enough for Vrabel being gone.

Now, how long before we all start complaining about the new coaching staff?
bowen not elite either and dont get me started on presentation, preparation, passion toothpaste boy

If there’s one thing clear about the responses nationally, it’s that very few people have any idea how Tennessee has done on the field.

between the “legit defenses”, still blaming THill, still blaming AJ Brown, very few point out the actual problems Vrabel was a huge part of on the field.
msm 100% consider the Titans as the Washigton Generals of the NFL

Mrs. Amy's statement:

"“Earlier today, I spoke with Mike Vrabel and told him about my decision to make a change at head coach. As I told Coach Vrabel, this decision was as difficult as any I’ve made as Controlling Owner. I appreciate Mike’s contributions to the Tennessee Titans both on and off the field. Anyone who has ever met him knows how passionate and genuine he is, and he’s been a strong supporter of the Nashville community. We wish Mike, Jen, and the Vrabel family nothing but the best in the future.

As the NFL continues to innovate and evolve, I believe the teams best positioned for sustained success will be those who empower an aligned and collaborative team across all football functions. Last year, we began a shift in our approach to football leadership and made several changes to our personnel to advance that plan. As I continued to assess the state of our team, I arrived at the conclusion that the team would also benefit from the fresh approach and perspective of a new coaching staff."

PSL holders were given the option of renewing last month and locking tickets for '24, '25 and '26 and the current prices. I know I didn't renew and I bet a lot of others didn't either.

She knows she won't sell her high-dollar PSLs to the new place with the product she currently has. Even when they win, the style of offense the Titans play is borderline unwatchable when done in the "Vrabel Way". She finally realized it didn't matter who the OC was, you got the same offense, IMO.

Need to find an offensive-minded HC who can bring the Titans offense to the modern era.
Titans scored in every Q sunday... except the 4Q when 1 more score ends the game... just sayin'

and if that clear facemask on DH22 was called possibly Titans get a FGA off, but it was not and they did not

Jim Schwartz got the Lions to the playoffs as the HC and has proven time and time again that his defenses know how to get after the QB... he has familiarity with the players and with the organization....won a SB with Philly... Getting after the QB is of utmost importance in the league these days and he is one of the best at scheming pressure. He might be able to get Munchak to come back and coach the OL.

"But it's too much work" is not a very good reason to pass up the chance at getting some free draft picks lol. Sean Payton got the Saints a 1st-rounder.

Strunk is a moron.
to much 'work' I agree... too complex = too much time and I agree with this

although with both Titans and ne out of playoffs no reason a week or so could not have been burned trying - like my opinion

waiting till mid feburary just sets the new HC up for failure... whoever it is needs time to get their dudes on board

I think the feelers were put out long ago. The Pats knew/know what they planned on doing and I expect conversations were had. No way in hell the Pats were giving up their first-round pick with their need at QB.

Besides, if the Titans were willing to fire highly-respected Vrabel, what does that say about him being actually "highly-respected"? Coaches who are about to get fired hold little value.

The Titans averaged 1.8 TDs per game this season going into the final game. I doubt it was much better last season.

The Pats could play the waiting game because they knew that they would eventually get their guy.... Titans had to go ahead and start their new coaching search right away.

I believe the Tennessee Titans can and will be a premier National Football League franchise. It’s what our fans deserve, and there will be hard decisions along the way. My decision today is not only a reflection of my disappointment in our past two seasons, but also my recognition that further changes are necessary to fully achieve our vision.

I will never shy away from acknowledging that I have unapologetically high expectations for the football team and every aspect of the Titans organization. Our vision is not simply to produce more wins than losses, it is to regularly compete for championships. While this season was disappointing, I see early signs of progress taking shape. Last year we added a promising young quarterback and several other talented players to our roster. With a coaching search, enviable cap space, and top-10 draft position, this offseason is as important as any in our history. I’m excited for the weeks and months ahead. We will meet the moment.”

Amy pretty much confirming that they are all gone.

I see all my friends saying we're stupid for getting rid of Vrabel.

Throughout the years, "we're a bad team" blah blah blah and now that he's fired "We just got rid of Jesus"

What is with the outsiders thinking Vrabel is a great coach. I just don't understand.

I get it. Seemed almost inevitable. Although I must admit, I'm nervous about who can be the replacement. It's tough out there. My optimism is... even if we get a less-caliber HC, I'm excited for the coordinators and position coaches. It has to be pretty easy to upgrade what we had across the board. Keep DL Terrell Williams and maybe the OLB coach. Everyone else, good riddance.

Worse HC with better everyone else, is still a big W. I'm ok with a guy that can delegate.

The search started well before today, IMO. You don't fire someone without a plan. I suspect they already have a short list in place and we'll see things start to move immediately with the exception of any candidates on teams in the playoffs.
